Warner Bros. Discovery and HBO Max are well underway with developing the upcoming Harry Potter reboot, which will reimagine author J.K. Rowling’s books as a multi-season TV series. Along with a couple of stars from the original movie coming back for the reboot, the studio has the tall order of casting dozens of major characters to play Hogwarts’ students, teachers, and other powerful witches and wizards. This effort will be led by Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, bringing the core trio of heroes from this book to the forefront for a second time in live-action.
The rest of the cast features some of the world’s top talent to play the series’ adult characters, including John Lithgow as Professor Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. Now, the time has come to fill out the cast even further with a number of Harry, Ron, and Hermione’s classmates.
HBO Max shared four new images on Instagram, confirming 21 new cast members who will play roles in the upcoming Harry Potter reboot. Separated out into Hogwarts’ four houses, the actors all don their characters’ house colors as they prepare to take on new roles in this show.
The Gryffindor house, known for its scarlet red coloring and lion mascot, will include Eire Farrell (Katie Bell), Asha Soetan (Angelina Johnson), Orson Matthews (Oliver Wood), Serrana Su-Ling Bliss (Alicia Spinnet), and Ethan Smith (Lee Jordan). Lee is known as one of Fred and George Weasley’s closest friends, while Oliver Woo and Angelina Johnson both play Quidditch with Harry Potter (Wood as the captain in early years).
India Moon (Hannah Abbott), Jazmyn Lewin (Susan Bones), Cian Eagle-Service (Ernie Macmillan), and James Trevelyan Buckle (Justin Finch-Fletchley will represent the characters placed in Hufflepuff house, represented by a badger mascot and gold and black colors. In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (the fourth book), Hufflepuff also includes Cedric Diggory, who competes with Harry in the Triwizard Tournament.
Ravenclaw house will include Aaron Zhao (Terry Boot), Eve Walls (Lisa Turpin), Scarlett Archer (Penelope Clearwater), and Anjula Murali (Padma Patil) on its roster. Known for its blue and silver color scheme and eagle mascot, later students in this house include Cho Chang, with whom Harry is romantically involved later in his Hogwarts tenure.
Finally, the Slytherin house is populated by the biggest confirmed roster yet, including Eddison Burch (Miles Bletchley), James Dowell (Lucian Bole), Oliver Croft (Marcus Flint), Dylan Heath (Adrian Pucey), Henry Medhurst (Peregrine Derrick), Cornelius Brandreth (Terence Higgs), Laila Barwick (Pansy Parkinson), and D’angelous Osei-Kissiedu (Graham Montague). Slytherin is known as Gryffindor house’s biggest rival, particularly due to Harry Potter’s tussles with Draco Malfoy (played in this show by Lox Pratt).
