Justin Timberlake Files to Block Release of Arrest Video

Justin Timberlake Files to Block Release of Arrest Video

Justin Timberlake is fighting to maintain his privacy.

Following the Grammy winner’s 2024 arrest for driving while intoxicated in Long Island, New York, he filed a legal petition to block the public release of police body camera footage from the incident.

In court documents obtained by MS Now, Timberlake’s legal team stated they are aiming to stop the disclosure of the video on the grounds that it depicts private details about the singer that are not relevant to “any law enforcement action of public concern.”

“The harm from public exposure—stigma, harassment, reputational injury, and the permanent loss of privacy,” his attorney noted in the docs, “is immediate and irreparable.”

The *NSYNC alum’s legal team also said that the video captured personal moments beyond the arrest.

As one of Timberlake’s lawyers Edward D. Burke Jr. said in court documents, per MS Now, “The body-cam footage captures approximately eight hours of continuous recording and encroaches upon areas of Petitioner’s life and emotional state that have no relevance at all to Petitioner’s arrest.”

Burke also noted in a Mar. 1 letter to Sag Harbor’s chief of police that the video shows other civilians near Timberlake, 45, who “retain legitimate privacy interests.”
