Tilly was a fresh-faced Starfleet Academy cadet who earned her promotion to Ensign at the end of Star Trek: Discovery season 1. Commander Reno was an engineer who joined the Disco crew in Star Trek: Discovery season 3’s premiere.

How Old Tilly Is In Star Trek: Starfleet Academy
Star Trek: Discovery‘s time jump to the 32nd century at the start of season 3 complicated how Tilly and the USS Discovery’s crew regard time and aging. Sylvia Tilly is 32 years old, or 962 years old, in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, depending on how you look at it.
Lieutenant Tilly teaches third-year Starfleet cadets in the Beta Quadrant, which is why she isn’t a professor at Starfleet Academy’s San Francisco campus.

Commander Jett Reno was 42 when she joined the crew of the USS Discovery at the start of Star Trek: Discovery season 2. When Star Trek: Starfleet Academy begins in 3195, Reno is 49, or 980 years old, when Star Trek: Starfleet Academy begins in 3195.
Reno was born in 2215 and lived an eclectic life around the galaxy before becoming a Starfleet engineer. Jett was serving aboard the USS Hiawatha during the Klingon War of 2256-2257, and when she came aboard the USS Discovery after being rescued by Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and Commander Michael Burnham.

When the USS Discovery jumped to the 32nd century in 2258, Commander Reno was 43.
