Eddie Howe has been speaking to the media this morning, discussing injuries and availability ahead of tomorrow’s 3pm clash with Everton.
Newcastle’s injury list remains a long one, with a number of senior players set to miss out once again, but there are some positive updates to share.
Jacob Ramsey is due back in training today after missing our midweek clash with Qarabag due to a tight hamstring. Howe sounded confident that he should be back for tomorrow’s game.
Lewis Miley is still facing a “couple of weeks out”, and he’s been advised to manage the 19-year-old carefully, admitting we’d risk losing him for the rest of the season if we rushed him back.
On Tino Livramento, it sounds like he’s close to returning, with Howe revealing that he’s due back in first team training next week and on track to be available in early March.
Howe on Ramsey – “We hope Jacob will train today. So yes, fingers crossed he is back tomorrow.”
Howe on Miley – “We’ve been advised to be really careful. A dead leg would usually be a few days (out), but there has been some muscle disruption.
“He’s had a couple of injections, but I think we’re looking at a couple of weeks with Lewi. If we didn’t get this right, we would risk losing him for the rest of the season.”
Howe on Livramento – “Tino will be (back) in early March, we think he’s still on track for that. He has done really well.
“He is back, not with us; he has been running separately. But he’s built up a good body of work. He has been training and running for a period of time. I don’t think there is too long to wait.”
Elsewhere, Bruno Guimaraes remain out, but is feeling ‘positive’ about his hamstring injury, while Fabian Schar and Emil Krafth remain out longer term.
