February 24 – FC Bayern Women have formally activated their new long-term partnership with Hitachi Energy, with club executives signalling that the agreement represents a step change in the commercial positioning of the women’s side.
Speaking ahead of an exclusive Monocle panel discussion in Munich, Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen described the tie-up as taking women’s sponsorship at the club “to a new level”.
In his welcome address, Rouven Kasper, FC Bayern board member for marketing & sales, said: “We have a partner with whom we share values and visions. At FC Bayern, we want to be pioneers and always be the best. Why? To inspire people.”
The five-year agreement, announced two weeks ago, saw Hitachi Energy become the official energy infrastructure partner of Bayern Women. The company’s branding will appear on the players’ sleeves in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and the DFB-Pokal – acting as a visible signal of increased investment in the women’s programme.
Bayern Women director Bianca Rech said: “We want to bring energy to the pitch. It’s a big puzzle, and every player is a piece contributing to common goals.” Beyond the branding inventory, both sides have stressed infrastructure development and social responsibility as pillars of the collaboration.
Hitachi Energy CEO Andreas Schierenbeck highlighted the “trust and chemistry” between the parties during negotiations, saying they had formed a strong team.
Bayern’s women have established themselves as domestic contenders and regular Champions League participants; with the commercial architecture around the club now being built to match.
