Robert Carradine, best known for his iconic portrayal of the quintessential “nerd” in the 1984 cult classic comedy Revenge of the Nerds and the beloved sitcom father of Hilary Duff’s titular character in Lizzie McGuire, has died aged 71. The actor took his own life after a “valiant struggle” with bipolar disorder for nearly two decades, according to his family, who described Carradine as a “beautiful soul.”
