The Pokémon Trading Card Game sees regular releases throughout the year, but it’s still exciting news whenever we get confirmation that new sets are on the way. And having concrete release dates makes it even sweeter. Now, we finally know the dates for two new Pokémon TCG sets.
Over on Pokebeach, the release dates for two new TCG sets, which the site is calling “Abyss Eye” and “Storm Emerald” have been listed. These sets’ trademarks were first discovered in June 2025, “meaning there will be a record 11 months and 13 months,” according to the popular fan site.
Abyss Eye & Storm Emerald Coming This Summer
Both of the sets will be releasing this summer. Abyss Eye comes out on May 22, 2026, and Storm Emerald will release on July 31, 2026. Abyss Eye will feature Mega Darkrai ex while Storm Emerald stars Mega Rayquaza ex. Those are two pretty popular Pokémon, with both of them featured in Mega Dimension DLC for Legends: Z-A.
The caveat here is that both sets are releasing in Japan, but most of these cards will release in English through a Pokémon TCG later in the year. We should start seeing cards from the sets appearing online in the future, and Pokebeach is great about sharing the images.
English Pokémon TCG Sets Are On The Way Too
If you’re looking for English sets in the Pokémon TCG, then there’s still plenty to look forward to. Ascended Heroes is out now, and Perfect Order is coming out in March. There’s also a 30th Anniversary Collection on its way, which will hopefully be officially revealed during the stream on Pokémon Day this year.
If that’s not enough, the Pokémon TCG is coming back to McDonald’s Happy Meals this year too, to celebrate the franchise turning 30. That should be plenty to keep fans occupied, but if it’s not, there’s also a Chaos Rising set releasing in English in May. It’ll be the fourth expansion for the current Mega Evolution series.
That means cards from Abyss Eye and Storm Emerald will likely appear in the fifth and sixth expansions, respectively. Given the past release schedules, I’d expect the fifth set to arrive in July and the sixth to drop in September. A few cards from the Japanese set could also appear in the November set, which is unconfirmed but will presumably happen.
In other words, it’s a great time to be a fan of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. We should start seeing more of these cards soon, and the upcoming stream will give us glimpses as well.
