Embo is set to make his live-action debut in The Mandalorian & Grogu (this is not a drill!). One of many exciting reveals in the new Star Wars movie, it absolutely feels safe to say that Embo officially has one of the craziest “footprints” in the entire galaxy far, far away.
While there are more well-known names like Boba Fett and Cad Bane, Embo is easily just as high on the list of bounty-hunting legends in the Star Wars timeline. Now, Embo’s imminent live-action debut is set to add a wild new chapter to his already crazy Star Wars history.
Embo Will Make His Live-Action Debut in The Mandalorian & Grogu
Embo is officially making his live-action debut in The Mandalorian & Grogu, appearing alongside his loyal anooba, Marrok. It’s yet to be confirmed if Embo will still be voiced by the newly named head of Lucasfilm Dave Filoni (who came up with Embo’s alien language via poorly enunciating Smurfs books written in French). However, it’s a good bet that Filoni will likely still provide Embo’s voice in live-action.
In the brand-new Mandalorian & Grogu trailer, Embo is shown approaching Din Djarin’s homestead at night in the rain, followed by a shot of Djarin unmasked before the twin cousins of the late Jabba the Hutt. As a result, it seems Embo was likely hired by the Hutts to bring Djarin in.
That said, Embo’s full Star Wars journey is objectively insane, well before we knew about his upcoming live-action debut.
Embo’s Star Wars History Is Actually NUTS (Here’s The Basic Breakdown)
Beginning with The Clone Wars, Embo’s history is basically one wild encounter after another where he’s a total badass. He first worked alongside Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka Tano to help farmers defend against pirates. Then, he and his fellow crew of bounty hunters survived a fight with Darth Maul and Savage Opress while working for the Hutts.
Embo later joined Boba Fett’s crew, partnered with Asajj Ventress, and even became involved in a major assassination plot targeting Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. The Kyuzo bounty hunter even fought Anakin Skywalker himself, giving the Chosen One a run for his money in The Clone Wars sixth season.

Across the board, Embo was a major legend, so much so that Sabine Wren created artwork inspired by him in Star Wars Rebels. He also clashed with Lando Calrissian after Return of the Jedi, played a role behind-the-scenes during the Battle of Jakku, and seemingly retired to a life of farming on Felucia following a New Republic pardon.
However, it seems as though Embo couldn’t quit the bounty hunter life for good, hence his new appearance in The Mandalorian and Grogu. Considering how many crazy encounters Embo has already had across multiple eras, it’s going to be very exciting to see the Kyuzo hunter in live-action for the very first time, metal hat, bowcaster, and all.
The Mandalorian & Grogu releases in theaters on May 22nd, 2026.
