After over 70 years of garnering acclaim across multiple genres, Robert Duvall has died at the age of 95.
As announced by his wife, Luciana Duvall, on Facebook, Duvall passed away at the age of 95 on Sunday, February 15. Her statement described that her “beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time” passed away “peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort.”
Luciana added that while the world knew her husband as an award-winning actor and director, to her, Duvall was “simply everything.” He “gave everything” to the characters he played over the years and sought to explore the “truth of the human spirit” that those roles represented. As a result, Duvall’s legacy will be “lasting and unforgettable.”
While asking for privacy so she and her family could honor their loved one, Duvall’s wife closed out her statement by thanking everyone for supporting him through the years.

Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time. Bob passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort.
To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything. His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court. For each of his many roles, Bob gave everything to his characters and to the truth of the human spirit they represented. In doing so, he leaves something lasting and unforgettable to us all. Thank you for the years of support you showed Bob and for giving us this time and privacy to celebrate the memories he leaves behind.
