The goal contributions keep on coming for Weston McKennie this winter.
McKennie registered two assists on Saturday but Juventus conceded a late winner in a 3-2 loss to Inter Milan. The American midfielder now has seven goal contributions this year, continuing his hot run of form for the Bianconeri.
An Andrea Cambiaso own goal boosted the league-leaders in front at the San Siro before the Italian defender equalized nine minutes later for a 1-1 scoreline. McKennie’s cross from the right side of the Inter box was redirected home by Cambiaso to give Luciano Spalletti’s squad life heading into halftime.
Pierre Kalulu was sent off for Juventus, giving Inter Milan an extra man advantage for the remaining 50+ minutes of the match.
Francesco Pio Esposito powered Inter Milan ahead 2-1 with 14 minutes play but McKennie helped draw Juventus level a second time.
McKennie’s deft pass allowed Manuel Locatelli to slot home with seven minutes to play.
However, Piotr Zielinski would play the hero for Inter, smashing home from outside of the box in second-half stoppage time.
McKennie played the full 90 minutes in the defeat, as Juventus dropped out of the top-four on goal difference.
Juventus will have a quick turnaround this week as the Italian club visits Galatasaray in UEFA Champions League play on Tuesday.
