Jacob Devaney

The Irish youngster has impressed at youth level, captaining various sides at Carrington.

It was decided this winter, though, that he needed to go out and experience some first-team senior action for the next stage of his development. As a result, he was sent on loan to St Mirren in Scotland, and he made his debut last weekend in an impressive 1-0 victory over league leaders Hearts of Midlothian.

Devaney also revealed after the game that he wants to emulate current midfield star, Kobbie Mainoo, by breaking his way into the first team at Old Trafford in the future.

He took a step closer to realising this dream with another strong performance in his side’s 2-1 win over Airdrieonians F.C. in the Scottish Cup.

Devaney opened the scoring with a sublime effort.

The ball was played through to him and he took one touch outside the area, clipping a beautiful finish into the top corner above the opposition keeper.

He played 63 minutes before being substituted and will hope to claim another start away to Kilmarnock on Wednesday, where he could well come up against former teammate Joe Hugill.

Emma Watson

The Manchester United Women starlet moved to Mexico this winter to gain first-team experience for Tigres.

It was a surprise move, but it is paying off so far as she grabbed her first goal for the club in a 4-2 win over Cruz Azul.

She was played through on goal into a one-on-one situation, making no mistake.

Watson calmly tucked the ball into the bottom corner with her left foot to make her mark in Mexico. The teenager was so impressive that she was named player of the match by the club’s website.

She will next be in action against Forge on Tuesday evening (Wednesday morning GMT).
