In the Real Housewives fan base, the beef between Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice is legendary. The sister-in-laws turned Real Housewives of New Jersey co-stars have been feuding for years, but Gorga claims that’s all behind them.
Gorga appeared on Tuesday’s episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast with Amanda Hirsch to talk all things Bravo, RHONJ, and updates on her current family drama.
Halfway through the episode, Gorga drops the bomb — she invited Giudice and her family over to her home for Christmas Eve. The invite came after a phone call between the two reality stars, when Giudice admitted she was going to be spending Christmas Eve and Day with her husband’s family.
The tension between the two women started with small conflicts within their families. It escalated when Giudice spread rumors of infidelity in Joe and Melissa’s marriage, which led to them skipping Giudice’s wedding in 2022.
For the holiday, Gorga’s original plan was for everyone to go out to dinner, but after speaking to her husband and Giudice’s brother, Joe, it was decided that the event should be at their house.
“It was great. We had so much fun,” said Gorga while confessing the whole family was up until 2 or 3 a.m. playing pool and poker. This was the first time since the family feud came to a head that Giudice and Gorga’s children spent time together.
“We were all a little nervous,” she admitted. All the adults had already gotten together to deal with their issues, so Christmas Eve was about their children reconnecting.
The reality star said:
They reconnected instantly. They’re cousins. There’s true love there.
The one thing that made it all worthwhile for Gorga was seeing her husband happy as he reestablished his relationship with his only sibling.
Gorga believes this reconciliation between Giudice and her will be different. She said, “I think it needs to last, and if it doesn’t, shame on us. Shame on all of us.” She also admitted, “I don’t think there’s any other tries after this,” but she believes it’ll last this time.
Even though Gorga has faith in their relationship, there are still naysayers who think this moment of peace is all for reality television. To all those people, she says, “It would not be worth it to fake it for the show.“
She revealed it’s “not a fun time” to spend time with someone you dislike so much, and it wouldn’t make sense to pretend just for a reality show. “We would literally just pass on the show” because she makes a conscious effort to stay away from “toxic” people or people who negatively impact her life.
Moving forward, she plans to take ownership of her part in the previous arguments. If another disagreement breaks out, she plans to take a moment to remember that some things “aren’t a big deal,” in hopes it won’t escalate.
The RHONJ star didn’t say if she was coming back to the show, but revealed she would if she was asked. Until then, fans can listen to her episode of Not Skinny But Not Fat and watch her on previous seasons of the Bravo show.
