Mamadou Sarr makes Chelsea return

Mamadou Sarr makes Chelsea return

Mamadou Sarr has returned to Chelsea from his loan spell at Strasbourg, as the Blues made the decision to bring the 20-year old back to the club to help solve the defensive issues that have been plaguing the side.

Sarr joined Chelsea back in the summer and even trained with the first team prior to returning on loan to partner club Strasbourg. The Senegal international was a key part of Le Racing’s back line, at times wearing the armband this season.

However, his loan back to Strasbourg included a recall option, one that has now been triggered by Chelsea, who are struggling with injuries at the back this season and failed to get the signings that Liam Rosenior wanted.

CHELSEA posted on the club website: ‘The 20-year-old signed for the Blues in June and made his debut against ES Tunis during our triumphant Club World Cup campaign.

‘He rejoined Strasbourg on loan in August, making 18 appearances for the French club in Ligue 1 and the Conference League. Sarr earned his first cap for Senegal in November and was included in their squad for the Africa Cup of Nations.

‘Having featured twice as a substitute earlier in the tournament, Sarr started the final as Senegal were crowned champions following a dramatic 1-0 extra-time victory over Morocco.’

IcFootballnews Says….

CHELSEA failed to get the transfer signings that they wanted this January window, the club missed out on the sides top transfer target, and that is why Sarr is now back at the club.

Liam Rosenier knows Sarr very well from his time at Strasbourg and will surely give him the game time and minutes he needs, he will get more of a chance to shine in that Blues shirt like he has not before.

This is a very good decision from the Blues to bring him back.
