Jacob Lofland Teases Major Event in ‘Landman’ Season 3

Landman season 2 may have already come and gone, but the speculation and discussion surrounding the already renewed third season is well underway. The series, created by Taylor Sheridan, made waves when it first premiered on Paramount+ in November 2024, quickly becoming one of the most watched shows on the streaming service. That trend would continue with the second season, with the new episodes released late last year in November shattering viewing records. The world and characters of Landman have become quite popular, and one character in particular, Cooper Norris, has been the subject of plenty of discussion, especially when it comes to his prominent role in the series’ future.

Speaking exclusively to MovieWeb, Jacob Lofland, who plays Cooper, would talk about the future of his character and his relationships. One specific area of discussion was his relationship with Ariana (played by Paulina Chávez) and how much it has evolved over the course of two seasons. The latest episodes revealed that the two have become engaged, and when asked if that meant there might be a wedding episode in the third season, Lofland remained tight-lipped, not giving any indication about whether that would happen, saying:

“That’s a great question, and I’m not even. Don’t even get me lying, dude, I don’t know. Your guess is as good as mine. We think we would. I think so, you know, I’m with you. This should, should be happening soon. That was a question I was asked earlier. What’s going to happen? And it will probably be really extravagant, you know.”

Lofland had previously spoken about how he hasn’t received any scripts or story details for the third season, which makes sense given his ambiguous answer. Whatever ends up happening, Cooper’s growth throughout the series has been interesting to see unfold, especially as he begins to grow closer in reputation to his father, Tommy (Billy Bob Thorton).

When you add his relationship with Ariana to that growth, there is sure to be some exciting new drama in future episodes.

Whether that drama comes in the form of a wedding remains to be seen. Ariana had her own intense scene in the penultimate episode of Landman season 2, which both her and Lofland had described as incredibly taxing to film. Should there be a wedding, the pressure of such an event will likely play into Cooper’s already complicated relationship with his father. All that remains to be seen is if Landman Season 3 follows the same release schedule as the past two seasons, which is likely given the massive popularity of the series and its characters up to this point.
