Following the acquisitions of Juwensley Onstein and Hamza Abdelkarim, FC Barcelona have now announced that they have signed young left-back Patricio Pacifico from Defensor Sporting in Uruguay.
The 19-year-old defender, who can also play at centre-back, joins on a loan deal until the end of the season, with the Blaugrana retaining a permanent purchase option for the summer.
Like with Onstein and Adbelkarim, Pacifico, too, will be joining the Barça Atletic setup, aiming to help them in their bid for promotion from the RFEF Segunda Division.
“FC Barcelona and Defensor Sporting Club have reached an agreement for the loan of Patricio Pacifico until the end of this season,” the club statement read.
“The agreement includes an option to buy at the end of the season for the Catalan club. The Uruguayan defender will join Barça Atlètic for the second half of the season.”

A tall, strong player for his age, Pacifico can hold his own in duels, while he is also capable of carrying the ball out of defence.
Prior to his move to Barcelona, the teenager made 40 first-team appearances for Defensor Sporting, even scoring two goals in the process.
Pacifico has played 15 times for the Uruguayan U-20 national team, having previously represented the South American country at the U-17 level.
Having now arrived at Barcelona, the 19-year-old starlet will hope to convince the Catalans to make his signing permanent in the summer by putting in strong performances for the reserve team.
