Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews featuring the likes of Jeremy Jacquet, Dayot Upamecano and Kendry Paez that we think you may have missed…
According to a report from sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, Rennes Defender Jeremy Jacquet is desperate to complete his move to Chelsea, and has reportedly agreed agreed personal terms over a move to Stamford Bridge.
Rennes star Jeremy Jacquet is reportedly holding out for a transfer move to Chelsea this January window or at the end of the season, despite strong interest from several top teams.
It has been claimed that the player has asked to join CHELSEA, the club have come to an agreement over a deal for the defender and it was only a matter of time before an announcement was made by the clubs hierarchy.
However – in recent weeks the possible move has stalled because Chelsea seemingly do not want to meet the asking price that has been set by the French club, but that does not seem to be the end of the saga.
The Sky Sports reporter has revealed that there could be developments this weekend – He wrote: “Jeremy Jacquet only wants to sign for Chelsea. Personal terms have been fully agreed. Both Chelsea and Rennes are playing on Saturday evening. Expect developments after the games.“
French football expert Julian Laurens recently compared the talented Jacquet to Arsenal star William Saliba: ‘I think he is the real deal,’ Laurens told Sky Sports. ‘I know he’s only 20 and has very little experience, even in Ligue 1 because he hasn’t played for France or in the Champions League or even the Europa League.
‘There’s still a long time to go for him but he’s been impressive since he was recalled from his loan in the second division last season.
‘He’s a player Liam Rosenior will know because he’s played against him and seen him in action. You can’t get it wrong, really, because he is amazing and he is going to be amazing.
‘He reminds me a bit of William Saliba when he burst onto the scene in France at Saint-Etienne.
‘The question is how much do they value the potential and talent because he’s only 20 and you’re paying a lot for someone who hasn’t proved much because he hasn’t played many games.
‘So how much are CHELSEA ready to pay? Rennes want more than Man City paid for Doku which was 64m euros. So Chelsea will need to pay at least £60m which is a lot of money for such a young player.’
CHELSEA HOLD UPAMECANO TALKS
There has been some reports in the media which have claimed that Chelsea are one of the clubs that have now held talks with Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano about a free move to the Premier League at the end of the season.
So far Liam Rosenior has does a very impressive job at CHELSEA and has won 5 of his six games on charge of the Blues, he has got his players playing some great football, and has got his stars performing once again.
His goal for the club this season would be to get Chelsea back in the Champions League, and possibly adding some silverware to that cabinet, but adding players to the side is always on the agenda for the Blues, as there are a few issues Rosenior needs to sort out.
The defensive side of Chelsea has been an issue this season, there has been no doubt about that, as the club are lacking that proven top-level player that could come in and add some experience to the side, which has led to all sorts of speculation and rumours.
CHELSEA HAVE HELD TALKS WITH UPAMECANO
According to TEAMtalk, a host of major sides, including Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Inter, have all held discussions with Upamecano’s camp.
Upamecano’s current deal with Bayern Munich is set to expire in the summer, and while Bayern have tabled a renewal proposal, the club have made it clear that the offer will not remain on the table indefinitely and the defender will not be receiving a better deal.
WOULD UPAMECANO BE A GOOD SIGNING FOR CHELSEA?
CHELSEA have a longstanding interest in signing Upamecano, they wanted the defender before he joined Bayern and they would surely love to bring him to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, especially on a free.
The Blues have the financial power to give Upamecano the kind of contract that he desires, and to be honest, the Premier League may be tempting for a plyer that has all the qualities to handle even the best strikers in Europe.
He would be a good Chelsea signing though, he has he quality, leadership and ability to be a very solid addition for Liam Rosenior that is for sure.
CHELSEA ANNOUNCE PAEZ DEAL
Brazilian attacker Kendry Paez has joined Argentine side River Plate for the rest of this year, having been recalled from Strasbourg, the Blues have now officially confirmed on the club website.
CHELSEA posted on the club wesbite: ‘Paez spent the first half of the current season in France with Strasbourg, making 21 appearances for the Ligue 1 side across all competitions, but has now moved to River Plate for the remainder of 2026.
‘The Argentine side finished fourth in the 2025 Primera Division and recently opened their new campaign with back-to-back wins.
‘Paez officially joined CHELSEA after his 18th birthday in May 2025. He already had considerable experience from his 70 senior appearances for Independiente del Valle in his homeland Ecuador, and has also earned 23 international caps for his country.
‘The attacking-midfielder now returns to South America to continue his development with River Plate.
‘Good luck Kendry!’
IcFootballnews says….
Paez is a great young talent, he came to Chelsea will big hopes of trying to break into that Blues side, to make an impact and possibly push on to reach his full potential. But that move to Stamford Bridge was far too early for the lad.
He was never going to get a real chance to prove himself at CHELSEA, he is never going to get the minutes that he would like and although this is a loan move, his next switch should be a permanent one.
CHELSEA have a habit of signing the best young players around, then sending them on loan for the next few seasons until the player is virtually forgotten about and then sold on.
Paez will hope he gets the minutes at River Plate that he needs, but maybe a permanent move away from Chelsea should also happen in the future as he needs to get to that point about what is best for his future.
He is far too talented to just be shipped out on loan for the next few seasons.
