Newcastle United travel to Anfield tonight hoping to secure a first away win over Liverpool in the league since 1994.
A huge six pointer in the race for a top five spot, we’ll be hoping to build on our good result midweek against PSG and beat Arne Slot’s side.
Here’s how the teams lineup on Saturday night:
Newcastle XI: Pope – Trippier, Thiaw, Burn, Hall – Tonali, Willock, Ramsey – Elanga, Gordon, Barnes
Subs: Ramsdale, Botman, Wissa, Osula, J.Murphy, Woltemade, A.Murphy, Shahar, Miley
Liverpool XI: Alisson – Szoboszlai, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez – Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Wirtz – Salah, Ekitike, Gakpo
Anthony Gordon leads the line for the Magpies tonight, as one of three changes to the side that drew 1-1 against PSG. Barnes and Trippier also return, with Woltemade, Botman and Miley making the bench.
There’s unfortunately no Bruno Guimaraes for us tonight, as he continues to be rested following his injury against PSV.
Dan Burn, who was exceptional in his MOTM performance against PSG on Wednesday night, makes his first league start since the Tyne-Wear derby in November.
The hosts are going through a horrendous defensive injury crisis, but have been boosted by the return of Ibrahima Konate.
Former Magpie Alexander Isak is still dealing with a fractured leg and out of the squad, and former target Hugo Ekitike leads the line for Liverpool in his absence.
This feels like the most winnable game we’ve had at Anfield in many years, and three points here would do wonders for our Champions League prospects next season. Howay The Lads!
