Everton are still waiting for the decision of medical experts regarding Jack Grealish’s injury and whether he will require surgery on his injured foot.
Grealish is expected to miss the remainder of the season after suffering a stress fracture in the aftermath of the 1-0 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park. The 30-year-old, on loan from Manchester City, might have played his final game for the Toffees.
Speaking about Grealish’s injury following the 1-1 draw with Leeds United at home, David Moyes said, “We’re waiting on the surgeon saying what he thinks is the right choice. We’re getting closer to it and hopefully we’ll be able to update you very shortly.”
“Whether Grealish ends up having surgery or not, the initial prognosis did not bode well. Not for the player, who will see his World Cup chances further dwindle during his extended spell on the sidelines, or an Everton side already starved of creativity,” Patrick Boyland reports in The Athletic.
Grealish has scored two goals and registered six assists for the Blues in 20 league appearances this season. He scored the winners against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth and has been an important player for David Moyes this season.
The Toffees are currently covering three-quarters of his £300,000-a-week salary and will have to cough up nearly £1million a month for Grealish to be watching on from the sidelines.
While Everton possess an option to make his stay permanent for £50million, it is better in the club’s interest to haggle over the price with Manchester City if they enter negotiations to sign him. The injury also provides them with the option to wait and assess how his rehabilitation progresses before taking a final call.
While the belief is that his injury could force the club to make moves in the final few days of the transfer window, Moyes doesn’t think that new faces will be added to the locker room. “No, not at the moment.. I might find out a bit more in the next day or two,” he added.

He is the master of holding the ball up whilst others get into position and wins lots of free kicks in the right areas.
It is sad that his injury has come at a time when Everton could still have benefitted from the remainder of his loan deal but alas that may be the end of it.
Luckily Everton have players coming back and especially Dewsbury-Hall who has been a great acquisition.
There is still a chance of getting a European place but more importantly getting a talented squad ready for next season.
I see Barry getting more confident every game; if the club can bring in another strong striker to help him, then all well and good. At the moment he is having to work his socks off on his own under the Moyes stratagem.

If he is, bearing in mind we don’t know if Moyes will still be there either, would be to negotiate both the transfer fee (much reduced) and that he takes a serious cut in wages.
There is no doubt he is a class player, and does make a difference when included. However, having said that, he is also very predictable and easy for the opposition to counter the threat.

If the price is 20m downwards I’d say get him in, he attracts so much attention when on the ball freeing up space for others. Personally thought we missed him hugely last night.

If its a small hairline crack he could make a fast recovery. Even so they will not want to rush him back too quickly so its going to be two months minimum.

The lad seems to have bought into Everton in a big way, so Id like to see the club make the effort. In spite of all the concerns about his party lifestyle that were there when he arrived, all I see is a player who has tried his damnedest to adapt to Moyesball. He has worked his socks off whilst offering the sort of trickery that we havent seen for far too long and when it comes to engagement with the fans and the wider community, he has properly pushed the boat out.
