Juventus reportedly exploring a move for Beto Rumour Mill

Juventus have identified Beto as a target to reinforce their attack and are eyeing up a move for the Everton striker in the last few days of the window.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Guinea-Bissau international has emerged as a last-minute option in their search to sign a striker after talks with Youssef En Nesyri, a player Everton were also interested in, collapsed.

However, a significant gap exists between the two clubs regarding the method of operation. While Everton would prefer to sell the player outright, the Bianconeri are pushing for an initial loan deal with an option to buy, which is the same reason that prompted En Nesyri to turn down their approach. Gazzetta reports that Everton value Beto at €20m.

Despite the differences, apparently intermediaries are actively working to bridge the gap and find solutions for all three parties. It also remains to be seen whether Beto would accept a temporary return to Serie A if both clubs end up reaching an agreement.

The former Udinese striker has been a peripheral figure for David Moyes this season. Following the signing of Thierno Barry, Beto has started only eight league matches and has scored two goals.

Not a lot of benefit in loan with option, other than saving wages. Needs to be straight sale or loan with obligation at a sensible price. We’d make a profit on his book value now if we got circa £12-15M.

And of course we need a replacement, can’t muddle through with only one forward.

Could take Vlahovic in a swap deal?

Christy, we’d be lucky to get a dozen eggs and a loaf in part exchange!

But seriously we really do need an upgrade on this fella, we’ve seen what he’s about and, bar a purple patch when he grabbed some goals, he is blatantly not good enough and is unlikely to get any better.

I really like the guy but I think his reaction speed and lack of anticipation are just not suited to the fast pace of the Premier League.

I had held hope that he’d improve given enough time, but it’s just not happening for him. He’s probably a much better fit for Italy.

Does anyone know why Juve are looking for a striker? Is it because their move for En Nesyri fell through and would he or Beto be their first or second choice striker?

Also, do Juve have any second stringers who might be an improvement on positions in which we might want to improve or just need cover???

Get rid, look to bring a second striker in, even Callam Wilson for 6 months would be an upgrade.

Failing that, with Branthwaite back, use Keane up top for the last 20 minutes from the bench, he has to be a better option than Beto.

I have a hard time believing any rumours linked to him. I wouldn’t want my MLS team in America paying £2M for him.

If we sold him for anything to get him off the books, I’d consider it a steal. If Juventus is truly in for him, then I well and truly don’t understand football anymore.

Brian #6); I get your drift but do you think that Keane could manage on his own chasing long punts from our keeper and defence?

Whoever is up there could do with some support and more bodies in the opposition’s box when we do get forward.

We did get a couple of goals when Ndiaye came in on the back post but I don’t think we see Grealish getting in there.

Everton has been a striker’s graveyard for as long as I can remember. The only prolific goal scorer was Lukaku. Barry seems to be coming up to speed (touch wood!) in the Premier League, but he will need support. Why can’t we find the likes of Igor Jesus or similar?

On Beto, you can see that he is desperate to score and he tries really hard, but our style of play doesn’t give him too many opportunities. He might very well do well in Italy. But can we get a decent enough replacement in time?

Forest are lining up a £35M bid for Mateta. Why can’t we match that, if we can offload Beto for about £10-15M?

Christy #2, Vlahovic is out with a long-term injury. Assuming he heals, he is widely reported to be headed to Barcelona this summer. Not likely he’d even pick up the phone call from us.

Alan J #5, Juve likely want Beto to replace Vlahovic. Their two starting forwards right now are David and Yildiz.

We need a replacement even if he stays. If we let him go and Barry is our only recognised centre-forward, although not really losing anything with Beto’s poor output, he gives Barry a breather when he tires round 75-80 minutes.

I’d take Wilson on loan, Zirkiee on loan, McAtee on loan… there’s options out there. As always, it will probably be last day or so of the window when the clubs who have players they are letting go have their own squads in order, they feed the crumbs down to those waiting.

Given the service last night, any striker will struggle. Fair play to Barry for getting near post quickest.

Whatever happens, can’t let him go and have Barry as the only recognized striker in the squad. I think we’re too close to the deadline to let him go as I doubt we have a replacement lined up.

We couldn’t be so lucky, could we?… I’ll drive him there myself. He’s likeable but my god he’s shite. I’ve seen him stand on the ball and fall over multiple times ffs… this can only mean we have someone lined up, and they can only be an upgrade no matter who it is… now we can sign a proper forward and Barry can be number 2
