Dante Polvara’s time in Scotland looks to be coming to an end.

MLS club St. Louis CITY SC is closing in on a deal to acquire Polvara from Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen for roughly $200,000, sources confirmed to SBI. Polvara has agreed to join on a two-and-a-half year contract which will run through 2028.

The contract will also include a club option for 2029, sources added. Aberdeen had also offered Polvara a contract extension as his current contract runs through May.

The Daily Record was first to report St. Louis CITY SC’s interest in Polvara.

Polvara, 25, had originally joined Aberdeen in 2021 straight after his collegiate career at the University of Connecticut. After making just 11 appearances for the club over parts of two seasons, the former Mac Hermann award winner was loaned to USL side Charleston Battery in 2023.

He later returned to Aberdeen that summer and delivered his best season to date, scoring four goals and adding five assists in 40 appearances.

Since then, Polvara has scored one goal and added two assists in 42 combined appearances from 2024-26. He was not part of the squad for Saturday’s 6-2 league win over Livingston.

Former St. Louis CITY SC sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel is current part of the Aberdeen front office.

St. Louis failed to reach the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2025, finishing 13th in the 15-club Western Conference.
