Arsenal transfer news: Nwaneri – Alvarez

Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews featuring the likes of Juurien Timber, Julien Alvarez and Ethan Nwaneri that you may have missed…

Ethan Nwaneri has joined Olympique Marseille on loan until the end of the season, Arsenal have officially posted on the club website after the decision was made to let him gain some much needed experience.

Nwaneri is a player that ARSENAL have big plans for, they wanted to keep at the club in order for him to get some experience from being around the first team, but the attacker wanted to play and pushed for a move to Marseille this transfer window.

The Gunners posted on the club website: ‘Our hugely talented 18-year-old has made 12 appearances in all competitions this season and will now get more valuable game time with the Ligue 1 side.

‘Attacking midfielder Ethan burst on to the scene when he made his debut as a substitute against Brentford in September 2022, becoming the youngest player in Premier League history aged just 15 years and 181 days and our youngest player in any competition.

‘He went on to make six appearances in total across the 2022/23 and 2023/24 campaigns before really breaking through last season, when he made 37 appearances – 16 of them were starts – in all competitions, including 26 in the Premier League and seven in the UEFA Champions League.

‘The Hale End graduate has been with us since the age of eight and signed his first professional contract in March 2024 when he turned 17. He then put pen to paper on a new long-term contract in August this year

‘Ethan scored his first goal for the club in a Carabao Cup fixture against Bolton Wanderers, in which he scored twice, in September 2024 and went on to score his first Premier League goal against Nottingham Forest the following November.

‘He is an England Under-21 international and has represented the Young Lions at every age group from the Under-16s.

‘We wish Ethan all the best for his time with Marseille and look forward to seeing him develop his talent in one of the best leagues in Europe’

This will be a great experience for Nwaneri to make, Marseille are a great side that play some attacking football, so moving there should really improve the lad.

TIMBER REVEALS ARSENAL MOVE

Jurrien Timber has opened up and revealed why Arsenal are so important to him, amid the transfer speculation that a number of clubs are possibly eyeing up a transfer move at the end of the season.

Timber has established himself as a key part of Mikel Arteta’s fragile defence, playing at both right-back and centre-back, to help the ARSENAL‘ cement themselves as Premier League title favourites.

Liverpool, the reigning champions, meanwhile have struggled for consistency all season, especially at the back having already shipped a ton of goal this season. Captain Virgil van Dijk appears a shadow of his former self, while Trent Alexander-Arnold’s exit continues to be keenly felt.

That has led to all sorts of speculation and rumours in the media which have claimed that Liverpool will once again delve into that transfer kitty and add some more players to the side, with Timber possibly on the agenda for boss Arne Slot

However – the Dutchman has come out and reveled just how much Arsenal means to him, He said: “(I started supporting Arsenal) because my oldest brother was an Arsenal fan. Often you follow the ones you look up to, so I followed his club.

“I watched ARSENAL a lot when I was young, and eventually signing for Arsenal is a dream coming true, it was massive.”

“Sometimes you have to go back to that moment, that first moment when you signed, to understand the feeling of how proud you were, signing for Arsenal.”

“You know who I loved to watch when I was younger? Jack Wilshere. It was Robin van Persie as well of course, but he went to United, so the one I was enjoying a lot was Jack.

“He was someone that could do a lot from such a young age already, he played with so much courage, he was elegant, such a nice player to watch, he made Arsenal look nice.”

“I think it’s cooperation, not just the backline, I think it’s everyone. It’s something that the club (and) the manager have been working on for a long time.

“Me, I’m lucky to be a part of this group. The players I play with, lots of the defenders, I can learn from every day, and I think we make each other better.

“The standards are very high and that’s expected every single game; we make each other better, keep each other sharp and on our toes.”

ALVAREZ OPEN TO MOVE?

Here is the latest Arsenal transfer news and gossip and reports have now claimed that Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are open to letting star striker Julian Alvarez leave the club at the end of the season, and he would reportedly be open to a move.

The Argentine was never a guaranteed starter at Man City but still scored 36 goals across two seasons at the club and won the Champions League and FA Cup as well as the two league titles.

Alvarez has enjoyed a productive spell in the Spanish capital since his £82m move from Manchester City in 2024, scoring 29 goals during his first season at Atletico, and the 25-year-old Argentina international, who won two Premier League titles at the Etihad Stadium, has scored another 11 goals so far this season.

A report from ESPN claims ARSENAL have joined the growing list of clubs who are interested in signing Alvarez and although Madrid have so far shown no desire to sell Alvarez, it is claimed a summer move is possible if suitors are prepared to pay 100m euros (£87m).

And the report goes on to say that Alvarez would be open to a move back to the Premier League if he had to leave the Spaniards.

Asked about the speculation surrounding his future at Atletico last month, Alvarez said: ‘Look, it doesn’t bother me. I try not to pay much attention, but I know what’s being said.

‘It’s all over social media. I think it’s more what’s being said online than what’s actually happening.

‘I’m very focused on this season, on what lies ahead with Atletico Madrid. So, I try to tune it out and think about myself, about continuing to grow as a player, and about winning.’

We dont know what kind of striker would be great to lead that attack, but Alvarez has shown himself to be a very successful goalscorer wherever he has played, for the right money he could be a very good signing for ARSENAL .

Gyokeres needs time to really find his feet, but we are sure that Mikel Arteta will give the big man time, rather than spend more cash to replace the forward
