What is the story with Newcastle United players and direct goal involvements this season?
Who is leading the way?
Who needs to be contributing more when it comes to direct goal involvements, scoring goals and/or laying them on for teammates?
I have gone through the stats on all four competitions that the Newcastle United players have been competing in.
Some interesting findings emerge.
Across the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup, there are 20 different Newcastle United players who have so far, contributed at least one direct goal involvement.
Four are in double figures, whilst the other 16 include goalkeeper Nick Pope!
Direct goal involvements from Newcastle United players so far (up to 24 January 2026, ahead of NUFC v Villa), the total ahead of ahead player and then in brackets the breakdown between goals and assists:
14 Harvey Barnes (12G and 2A)
13 Anthony Gordon (9G and 4A)
13 Bruno Guimaraes (8G and 5A)
12 Nick Woltemade (9G and 3A)
6 Joelinton (5G and 1A)
6 Lewis Miley (3G and 3A)
5 Jacob Murphy (2G and 3A)
4 Yoane Wissa (3G and 1A)
4 Will Osula (3G and 1A)
4 Sandro Tonali (0G and 4A)
3 Malick Thiaw (3G and 0A)
3 Dan Burn (1G and 2A)
1 Fabian Schar (1G and 0A)
1 Anthony Elanga (0G and 1A)
1 Joe Willock (0G and 1A)
1 Kieran Trippier (0G and 1A)
1 Lewis Hall (0G and 1A)
1 Tino Livramento (0G and 1A)
1 Sven Botman (0G and 1A)
1 Nick Pope (0G and 1A)
Any surprises there?
Who do you think can be considered supplying more than enough direct goal involvements and which Newcastle United players need to be scoring and/or assisting more?
