Barcelona likely to make €8 million from sale of PSG-bound La Masia talent

Barcelona likely to make €8 million from sale of PSG-bound La Masia talent

Earlier today, news broke that PSG are not considering triggering Dro Fernandez’s release clause despite it being a meagre €6 million.

Instead, they were said to be in direct negotiations with Barcelona over a transfer fee slightly above that sum, for they intend to keep cordial ties with the Catalans and do not wish to burn bridges for the youth star.

Now, a report from Mundo Deportivo brings to light the sum that Barcelona hope to generate from his departure and what will, thus, likely end up being the transfer fee.

A small bonus

As confirmed by the Spanish outlet, the forecast in Catalonia is to make just over €8 million through the sale of Dro to PSG, a considerable €2 million higher than his release clause.

While there is understandably a sense of disappointment over his departure, they see the new figure as at least doing some justice as they are losing a player whom they heavily bet on.

With the player himself conveying his desire to leave to the management, however, Barcelona will not come in Dro’s way and talks are said to be in their final stages. In fact, PSG even have a verbal agreement in place with the youngster.

His transfer to the Ligue 1 side is said to be a direct request of former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique who sees him as a valuable piece in the Parisiens’ puzzle. Notably, he even had offers from Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund.

The coming days will be crucial in the deal getting over the line, and Barcelona will feel some relief to have at least pocketed a decent sum for a player who had not tasted first-team football until this season.
