Into the Spider-Verse’ Composer Daniel Pemberton

Masters of the Universe recently revealed its first trailer, and fans have been pleasantly surprised by the vivid colors, nostalgic feel, and character interpretations. The live-action reboot of the classic Mattel IP is directed by Travis Knight, who is behind the fan-favorite Transformers film Bumblebee and the beloved stop-motion film Kubo and the Two Strings. The Masters of the Universe movie has also lined up a stellar cast, including Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes, Morena Baccarin, Alison Brie, Idris Elba, and Jared Leto.

Thanks to a post shared on X by Daniel Pemberton, fans now know that the lauded Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse composer will be joining Masters of the Universe, bringing his musical talents to the new adaptation. Pemberton took to social media to break the news, exclaiming in his post, “I HAVE THE POWER!” The noted composer let audiences know that he would “be using some fabulous secret powers to conjure up the music” for Masters of the Universe, which will hit theaters on June 5.

Pemberton received an Academy Award nomination for his work on 2020’s The Trial of the Chicago 7. He has also composed music for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its sequel, Across the Spider-Verse, with Pemberton slated to return for the forthcoming third installment. His resume includes Enola Holmes, Eddington, and episodes of Black Mirror, with Masters of the Universe being another of his major 2026 works alongside the music for Project Hail Mary.

‘Masters of the Universe’ Is Already Surprising Fans

Masters of the Universe has been attempting to get a live-action film off the ground for nearly 20 years, with it shifting through numerous writers and directors. The reboot almost landed on Netflix, which reportedly invested millions in development, even casting leads, before shifting to the current theatrical release from Amazon MGM Studios. Given the movie’s rocky road to production and the nostalgia surrounding the IP, Masters of the Universe has a lot to prove, with the new trailer doing a lot to silence naysayers.

Fans have been thrilled by the beautiful depiction of Eternia and the accurate portrayals of characters, with He-Man, Man-At-Arms, and even Battle Cat delivering on the impressive visuals. Jared Leto’s casting as Skeletor has many concerned, as the actor has seen his fair share of controversy, with many blaming him for the failure of Tron: Ares. Still, at first glance, the Masters of the Universe movie looks to have knocked the interpretation of Skeletor out of the park. Early test screenings reportedly received glowing reviews, with audiences pleased by the humor and nostalgic feel. While Masters of the Universe is still a few months away, it is already promising to be one of 2026’s biggest surprises, with Pemberton’s inclusion only adding to the movie’s impeccable talent.
