Kostas Tsimikas is set to be recalled by Liverpool if fellow left-back Andy Robertson completes a transfer to Tottenham.
Kostas Tsimikas loan could be cut short
Currently playing for Roma, Tsimikas could be recalled early from his loan in Serie A if Robertson were to leave.
Liverpool’s vice-captain, whose contract expires in the summer, is considering a permanent transfer to Tottenham, and This Is Anfield understands plans are in place for a replacement should the move happen.
This is likely to take the form of Tsimikas cutting short his season-long loan in Italy to come back to Merseyside, despite there being no formal recall clause in his loan agreement.
In terms of young left-backs at the club, Owen Beck and Luke Chambers are promising talents, but the former is injured and the latter has just moved to Charlton on loan.
This leaves 20-year-old Calum Scanlon, who made his return this month after almost 11 months out due to a hamstring injury.
By far the most likely probable, however, is for Tsimikas to return and act as backup to the fast-improving Kerkez.

Liverpool FC: On this day
The legendary Bob Paisley was born in Hetton-Le-Hole on this day in 1919.
The greatest English manager of all time, he took over from Bill Shankly and won 13 major trophies in just under 10 years as Liverpool boss, including three European Cups and six league titles.
Paisley dedicated his life to Liverpool and won 31 trophies at Anfield, signing as a player from Bishop Auckland in 1939 and eventually retiring in 1983.
