Xbox Game Pass is going to become a lot better for its members starting on January 21, which will see the addition of some notable and very good titles to the catalog. Microsoft’s subscription is constantly changing, with new additions and some removals every month. The first half of January saw the addition of titles like Quarantine Zone, Atomfall, and Star Wars Outlaws to Xbox Game Pass.
Now, the service is getting an expansion that is worthwhile. On January 21, Xbox Game Pass will receive Death Stranding Director’s Cut as a free addition to its catalog. The game will be available for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and cloud gaming, as announced on Xbox Wire. Members of the Premium, Ultimate, and PC Game Pass tiers will have access to the newest entry to the catalog, though members of the Essential tier will not be able to play it via the subscription service.

The Director’s Cut Is The Ultimate Experience
As part of the second wave of Xbox Game Pass titles in January 2026, Death Stranding Director’s Cut is the biggest and most notable addition to the service on January 21. This version of the Kojima Productions title is the ultimate experience, as it not only offers the base game but also improved frame rates, photo mode, and more. In addition to the features, the Director’s Cut also comes with some in-game bonuses, like exclusive cosmetics.
The game’s addition to the subscription service in January likely means it will only be removed from the catalog in about a year or so. Even though it’s likely you have plenty of time to check it out, I do recommend playing it sooner rather than later, as this can be a large game to beat. It can take you around 50 or 60 hours to beat Death Stranding, depending on how you play it.
Xbox Game Pass Also Gets 2 More Games On January 21
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound & RoadCraft Also Join The Catalog
Even though Death Stranding Director’s Cut is the clear headliner for Xbox Game Pass on January 21, it’s not the only game arriving that day. In fact, January 21 will be made even better with the arrival of Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound and RoadCraft. Released a few months before Ninja Gaiden 4, Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is a pleasant surprise for fans of the series.
Ragebound has an impressive 84 Metascore on Metacritic. Meanwhile, RoadCraft is a fun vehicle sim, in which you’re tasked with managing construction sites affected by natural disasters. You’ll use heavy vehicles for such a task. The sim is also well reviewed, with a 78 Metascore and 8.1 user score on Metacritic.
Even if you don’t intend on playing Death Stranding, perhaps because you’ve already played it in the past, January 21 is going to be a great day for members of the subscription service. The addition of these three vastly different titles, all of which are praised by critics and players alike, shows that Xbox Game Pass is still invested in quality.
