Newcastle United could cut the gap to 4th place to just a single point with a win against Wolves at Molineux on Sunday afternoon.
We’re on a great run of form in the league, having won our last three games, but a tough task is ahead of Eddie Howe and the lads in Rob Edwards’ resurgent side.
The team sheets are now in, and here’s how the teams lineup:
Newcastle XI: Pope – Trippier, Thiaw, Botman, Hall – Tonali, Guimaraes, Joelinton – Barnes, Woltemade, Gordon
Subs: Ramsdale, Wissa, Elanga, Willock, A.Murphy, Ramsey, Shahar, Neave, Miley
Wolves XI: Sa – Mosquera, S.Bueno, Krejci – Tchatchoua, Mane, Gomes, Andre, H.Bueno – Hwang, Arokodare,
There’s four changes for Newcastle from the side that played Man City midweek, as Trippier, Barnes, Tonali and Woltemade all return to the starting XI in place of Miley, Murphy, Ramsey and Wissa.
The big change is Kieran Trippier starting at right back, with Lewis Miley benched despite his stellar performances in recent weeks.
Nick Woltemade scored the winner in the reverse fixture, and he again starts up top for us whilst Yoane Wissa is on the bench today.
Jacob Murphy drops out of the squad through injury, whilst Will Osula and Dan Burn, both reportedly nearing returns themselves, are also notable absentees.
Meanwhile, former Toon target Jørgen Strand Larsen is on the bench for the hosts this afternoon. The big Norwegian recorded just his first assist of the campaign in Wolves draw against Everton, and hasn’t scored since late October against Burnley.
After our European rivals in Brentford and Liverpool both slipped up on Saturday afternoon, we’ve got a fantastic opportunity to keep ourselves in the European places, and continue our winning run in the Premier League in 2026.
Howay the lads!
