Hulu’s Hit Crime Show From Peaky Blinders Creator Returns With Strong Rotten Tomatoes Score

Hulu’s Hit Crime Show From Peaky Blinders Creator Returns With Strong Rotten Tomatoes Score

Hulu’s hit crime show, A Thousand Blows, returns on streaming, and the first reviews are in for season 2. Created by Peaky Blinders’ Steven Knight, the historical series follows a female crime syndicate, the Forty Elephants, whose world clashes with the illegal boxing empire in 1880s London.

Before season 1 was released early last year, Knight confirmed that season 2 was already filmed back-to-back, indicating strong confidence from the streamer that the show would be a hit. Indeed, A Thousand Blows became a streaming success, and the wait didn’t take long for the second installment to arrive on Hulu.

Just eleven months following season 1’s release, A Thousand Blows season 2 has finally dropped on Hulu and Disney+. The first reviews are starting to come in, with most of the critics praising the new episodes. As of writing, season 2 has debuted with a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes, which is a slight improvement from season 1’s 88%.

Despite some pacing issues and a slow start, early reviews indicate that A Thousand Blows season 2 is still a worthy knockout. Some noted that the stakes don’t feel as high as season 1, but that problem was overcome by the fantastic performances from the cast, particularly Erin Doherty and Stephen Graham. It’s worth noting that the score may fluctuate as only 12 reviews have been tabulated at this time.

While A Thousand Blows continues to be a critical success with season 2, it’s unclear if the story will continue beyond that point. Knight and Hulu have yet to confirm if a season 3 would happen. Even then, that would be entirely dependent on whether season 2 can perform well on streaming.

On the other hand, the chances of A Thousand Blows season 3 are more complicated. Although Knight has expressed interest in continuing the show, the creator is busy with other major projects. This includes the filming for SASRogue Heroes season 3, the Peaky Blinders sequel show, and his writing duties for the next James Bond movie, which will be directed by Denis Villeneuve.

Considering the show’s future is now up in the air, it’s at least clear from the reviews that A Thousand Blowsprovides some closure for viewers who are curious about Mary Carr and Sugar’s ventures.

All new episodes of A Thousand Blows season 2 are now streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
