The Jackass gang is seemingly up to their old excruciating tricks again, as unofficial leader Johnny Knoxville has teased a new movie coming out in cinemas this summer on Instagram. Beginning with 2002’s Jackass: The Movie, the current four big-screen spin-offs from the original MTV docuseries collectively amassed over $415 million at the global box office, suggesting there’s still an appetite for mayhemic stunts from the boys even in their middle-age years.
“Well a wang dang and hot damn doodle, we are starting the year off with a bang. We wanted to let you know that this summer ‘Jackass’ is back!! We will see you in theaters June 26th. More to come but wanted you to hear it from us first!!”
There’s no knowing for sure whether this will be a fifth Jackass movie right now, or just some sort of re-release (Jackass Number Two celebrates its 20th anniversary this year), but either way, cast favorite Steve-O seems well up for it. “Yeah dude!!!” he commented on Knoxville’s social media announcement. “YASSSSSSSS I don’t think I am ever more excited for anything than your new movies,” added a fan, while two more wrote: “Just re-entered my jackass era in 2026 let’s go” and “I’m gonna throw up I’m so excited.”
Johnny Knoxville Emails Himself ‘Jackass’ Stunt Ideas
Addressing the future of Jackass back in 2024, Knoxville told ComicBook that nothing was in the pipeline with regard to another dose of theatrical chaos. He was, however, always noting down potential sketches for the crew to capture on camera should the opportunity arise.
“Jackass is like a feeling that you get, and you have to extinguish by doing another one. I don’t have that feeling right now, but I still write ideas for Jackass all the time just because I can’t help it. I get an idea, I’ll just write it down and email it to myself. So I still write just in case, but I don’t know if there will be enough.”
He also spoke to Vanity Fair about the unseen pain of his Jackass antics. Incredibly, despite having a baby caiman clamp its teeth onto his nipple, and being flipped into the air at the knees by a gigantic bull, Knoxville’s most distressing experience on set was the time he got pepper-sprayed.
“You know, like the concussions are bad and the breaks are, you know, not so fun. But I think the worst that I felt, I think, it doesn’t sound like it would be, but the pepper spray. I hated that. It’s like someone lit a fire in your eyes and put it out with kerosene for 20 or 30 minutes. I didn’t like that. But I’m sure there’s more painful things, but that one’s up there.
“My concussions are probably my worst injuries. I did have a blow-out fracture of my left eye once where it popped out and it had to go back in. That happened a couple times, once in the bathroom and then another time when I was walking around with [Chris] Pontius. With the injury I had, the blow-out fracture, I wasn’t supposed to sneeze for like six weeks or something and I’m like, I have allergies… But I was walking around with Pontius and he said something funny and for whatever reason I grabbed my nose it was like — doink. It doesn’t come out that far, like a little past Marty Feldman.”
