Following the shocking deaths of director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, yesterday in Los Angeles, the sitting President of the United States took to his own social media platform, Truth Social, to blame Reiner’s death on “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” It’s become the norm now for Donald Trump to lash out when those who spoke against him are the victims of a horrible tragedy, but this is a new low, even for him.
Reiner and his wife were found dead in their L.A. home on Sunday afternoon by their daughter. Shortly thereafter, reports came out that their son, Nick, had been taken in for questioning. He was officially arrested late Sunday in connection with the death of his parents, and his bail has been set at $4 million dollars.
This morning, Trump posted on Truth Social that Reiner’s death was the cause of “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” and that the celebrated director “was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession,” with the president. He then took the time to tout the “greatness” of his administration, claiming that the “Golden Age of America is upon us.” Check out the full post below:
“A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood. Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS. He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before. May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”
Reactions to President Trump’s Post Have Been Swift
As expected, reactions to the president’s post have been swift on social media. “This is one of the most psychotic things Trump has ever posted,” said journalist Aaron Rupar on X. John Squires, Editor-In-Chief for the horror outlet, Bloody Disgusting, also shared his thoughts on the matter, writing:
“This country has been torn to shreds by a sick man who has divided its people into two camps: those who celebrate him and those who are ‘deranged’ for not celebrating him. This is as vile a statement as we’ve ever seen from a sitting president. You cannot be human & support this.”
Marjorie Taylor Greene, who was once an outspoken supporter of Trump, but has since changed her tune, added to the discourse. She wrote: “Rob Reiner and his wife were tragically killed at the hands of their own son, who reportedly had drug addiction and other issues, and their remaining children are left in serious mourning and heartbreak. This is a family tragedy, not about politics or political enemies.”
Police are currently trying to put together a timeline for Reiner’s death, which is “proceeding as a murder investigation.”
