Emmy nominee, Nobody star, and one of modern action cinema’s most unexpected heroes, Bob Odenkirk, finds himself fighting the good fight once again as a put-upon police officer who discovers his quiet town is a lot louder (and a lot more violent) than he ever expected. The first trailer for the upcoming action thriller, Normal, has now been unleashed, and you can check it out below…
Directed by Ben Wheatley, who is best known for the warped horror movies Kill List, Sightseers, and A Field in England, as well as the action-comedy Free Fire and Jason Statham’s creature feature epic Meg 2: The Trench, and written by Nobody and John Wick’s Derek Kolstad, much like Nobody before it, Normal once again puts Bob Odenkirk on the backfoot. After demonstrating his surprising penchant for throwing fists in Nobody and this year’s sequel, Nobody 2, Odenkirk gets the chance to cement himself as the best unexpected action hero as he takes the lead as a sheriff whose small town is about to be in big trouble.
Starring Happy Days icon Henry Winkler and Games of Thrones alum Lena Headey alongside Odenkirk, Normal is all set to hit theaters with a bang on April 17, 2026, courtesy of Magnolia Pictures. In the meantime, you can check out the official synopsis below:
For Sheriff Ulysses (Bob Odenkirk), his provisional posting to the quaint Midwestern American town of Normal was meant to be a welcome respite from both his marital woes and recent moral injuries in the line of duty. But when a botched bank robbery interrupts the municipality’s tranquil pace, a sordid secret is inadvertently exposed and Ulysses learns that the town is anything but its namesake. Suddenly everyone is trying to shoot the sheriff, even his own deputies, and our put-upon policeman must rely on his affable mettle and some motley crooks if he is to survive the night. (And that’s all before the Yakuza show up).
More to come…
