Kosovo’s FC Llapi  begins €2m renovation of Zahir Pajaziti Stadium

December 12 – Kosovo’s FC Llapi has begun a €2 million reconstruction of its Zahir Pajaziti Stadium in the town of Podujevë. The renovation funds have been provided by the state.

The project will transform the sports arena into a modern facility that will be suitable for hosting international-level matches.

The foundation stone-laying ceremony was attended by the Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, the Acting Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sport, Hajrulla Çeku, and the Mayor of Podujeva, Shpejtim Bulliqi.

Prime minister Kurti hailed the project as a beneficial and necessary investment in the development of sports, emphasizing that the new infrastructure will help discover and nurture new talents.

He detailed that the construction of the eastern grandstand, along with the three existing stands (West, North, and South), as well as the installation of roofs around the entire stadium, will fully complete the facility. Kurti added that the new lighting, which will comply with international standards, will turn the Zahir Pajaziti stadium into an arena meeting UEFA criteria.

“Beyond being an obligation, I believe it is extremely useful, because the investment in sport, especially in football, in this stadium here in Podujeva, will encourage, discover and nurture new talents, who in the coming years will naturally raise the level of football in our country and sport in general,” Kurti stressed.

Mayor Shpejtim Bulliqi said that the project is guiding the stadium towards UEFA Category 3 status, thanks to the full covering of the stands and the modern lighting system to be installed. He noted that the reconstruction makes it possible to finalize all the essential work needed for the stadium to be considered a standardized facility according to European requirements.
The Zahir Pajaziti stadium, once completed, will be one of the most contemporary facilities in the country. It will be the home of local club KF Llapi.
