December 12 – Sportable’s Lightweight Portable System (LPS) is the first AI-driven portable tracking technology to be awarded FIFA certification.
The internationally patented system tracks players and smart balls captures every moment of a game or training session and can be implemented from schools to the elite envronment.
Lightweight wireless anchors create a live 3D map of players and the ball, with AI-driven technology automatically identifying and categorising game events to provide real-time telemetry.
At FIFA’s recent annual EPTS testing event in Leiria, Portugal, Sportable achieved ‘FIFA Basic’ certification for its Player Tracking Tag, recognising conformity and safety as a high-performance wearable. ‘FIFA Quality’ for its EPTS Tracking Results, confirms its high-level accuracy and consistency across positional data.
Launched 10 years ago, the FIFA Quality Programme for EPTS is the global benchmark for tracking accuracy and reliability in football. Systems are independently assessed against criteria including positional accuracy, consistency, latency, and robustness.
“Achieving FIFA certification for our Portable LPS is a landmark moment for Sportable,” said Pete Husemeyer, CTO of Sportable. “It validates the years of innovation and dedication behind our technology, and it proves that portability and precision can go hand in hand. Coaches, analysts, and players can have complete confidence in the accuracy of our data.”
Sportable said its system can deliver insights to the entire team sports pyramid and has ambition to make connected ball technology a standard at every level of sport, “unlocking new dimensions of understanding and engagement.”
“These certifications are confirmation that our player and ball tracking systems are ready for the highest levels of competition,” added Simon Cuff, SVP Football of Sportable. “We are excited to continue raising the bar for tracking technology across multiple sports worldwide.”
