If you’ve finished bingeing Amazon’s Reacher and are ready to be sucked into another action-packed thriller you won’t want to turn off, look no further than Netflix’s The Night Agent. Amazon Prime Video’s Lee Child adaptation has been one of the biggest streaming shows of the decade, and with that, streaming services have tried to up their game with action book adaptations, including several other action series on Amazon Prime.
First premiering in March 2023, Season 1 of The Night Agent follows Peter Sutherland, a low-level FBI Agent assigned to work the night shift answering an emergency phone line in the White House basement. It’s a phone that never rings, at least until tech entrepreneur Rose Larkin calls moments after her aunt and uncle are unexpectedly murdered by assassins. What follows is a heart-pounding race to uncover the government conspiracy that has brought Peter and Rose together before the assassins– or the mole plotting an assassination on the President of the United States– kill them next.
‘The Night Agent Season 3’ Will Give Viewers Its Biggest Shake-Up Yet
Netflix recently dropped a date announcement teaser trailer for The Night Agent’s third season, and, as expected, it’s looking to be one of the biggest releases in upcoming months, packed with the action and excitement audiences have come to expect. Season 1 skyrocketed to Netflix’s coveted #1 spot, racking up over 812 million watch hours and becoming Netflix’s most-viewed show in the first half of 2023. The drama was quickly renewed for a second season, which debuted in January 2025 to middling reviews, and once again shot to the #1 spot on Netflix’s Top 10.
Though Season 2’s reviews weren’t as exceptional, The Night Agent remains one of Netflix’s most popular shows and is consistently hailed for balancing pulse-pounding action with thoughtful character study and even some steamy romance. With Season 3 just around the corner, there’s never been a better time to hop on the Night Agent bandwagon, but viewers should prepare for things to look a little different the next time they see Agent Sutherland.
Netflix knows that The Night Agent is one of its biggest hits, so it’s expected that the streamer will release a gripping third season that will pull viewers back in and convince them to stick around for the already-announced Season 4. With Season 3 arriving on Feb. 19, 2026, now is the perfect time to dive into Netflix’s Reacher competitor and binge Seasons 1 and 2 so you’re fully prepared for whatever the newest roller-coaster ride has in store. If the Season 3 synopsis is anything to go by, viewers should prepare for higher stakes than ever as Peter gets caught up in a new web of government conspiracies:
Coming off the explosive events of Season Two, Night Agent Peter Sutherland is called in to track down a young Treasury Agent who fled to Istanbul with sensitive government intel after killing his boss. This kicks off a sequence of events where Peter investigates a dark money network while avoiding its paid assassins, while putting him on a collision course with a relentless journalist. Working together, they uncover buried secrets and old grudges that threaten to bring the government to its knees — and get them both killed in the process.
