Walton Goggins’ Easy-to-Binge Sci-Fi Series Continues to Dominate on Streaming Ahead of Season 2

Walton Goggins’ fan favorite sci-fi action series that can easily be binge-watched in a weekend continues to dominate the streaming charts. Following his scene-stealing roles in the likes of Sons of Anarchy, Justified, and a hilarious cameo in Community, as well as big screen roles in The Hateful Eight, Tomb Raider, and Ant-Man and the Wasp, Goggins turned his hand to hard sci-fi. And, what’s more hard sci-fi than a post-apocalyptic series with atomic-powered Iron Man-esque armor, laser guns, sentient robots, and a retro-futuristic 1960s aesthetic? Before fans return to The Wasteland when Season 2 of Fallout drops later this month, many have dived back into the first season of Prime Video’s hit sci-fi series.

Fallout currently holds the top spot on Prime Video’s TV streaming chart. In fact, Season 1 has been so popular that it has held a place in the top 10 for nearly a month. Fallout has been in Prime Video’s TV Top 10 for 22 days and counting, with much of that time spent in the number 1 spot. As well as being the most popular show on the streamer right now, it is also the fifth most popular piece of content overall, including movies, and has been for 19 days.

Fallout is based on the insanely popular video game franchise of the same name, which is currently overseen by Bethesda Softworks. Set in an alternate timeline where nuclear power was adopted following World War II, leading to resource wars across the globe for the remaining fossil fuels. Each video game tells a separate story set in the same universe, and the Fallout series follows that trend. Goggins plays one of three survivors in The Wasteland of California, who goes by The Ghoul. Goggins stars alongside Ella Purnell as Lucy and Aaron Moten as Maximus. The official synopsis reads:

“Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. Two-hundred years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind—and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent universe waiting for them.”

What to Expect From ‘Fallout’ Season 2?

Prime Video

Season 2 of Fallout drops on Prime Video on December 17. Long-time fans of the games were already familiar with the show’s setting, as it featured in the first Fallout game (which was published back in 1997). But, more recent fans are also excited for Season 2, as it will take Lucy and The Ghoul to the iconic city of New Vegas.

As well as moving from California to New Vegas, Season 2 of Fallout also comes with another major change. When Season 1 dropped in 2024, fans were able to binge all eight episodes at once. However, Prime Video is looking back to the good old days of network TV, as Season 2 of Fallout will be a weekly release. The first episode drops on December 17, with new episodes being released each week.
