‘Newcastle United are starting to motor’ declares Joe Cole

Joe Cole has been talking about Newcastle United.

The former Liverpool and England winger discussing Tuesday’s match.

Joe Cole on the chances of Eddie Howe’s side winning, as they take on Spurs.

The Newcastle United boss set to face Thomas Frank and his team with an 8.15pm kick-off.

Eddie Howe and the Newcastle United players looking to make it seven home wins in a row, in all competitions.

Joe Cole talking ahead of Newcastle United facing Spurs in the Premier League:

“Tottenham were dreadful, absolutely abysmal at the weekend.

“Beaten 2-1 at home, 12th in the Premier League table coming into this game.

“On the flip side, Newcastle, they’re coming into some form, and they’re starting to motor.

“The Champions League’s been great for Newcastle; we can’t say anything less than that, and they beat Everton 4-1 on Saturday evening, and I can only see a home win here.

“I fancy them to win 3-1, so backing Newcastle to win.”

My thoughts

I can’t disagree with really anything that Joe Cole has had to say here.

Newcastle United “starting to motor”…? Lets hope so.

All clubs look for consistency and certainly Newcastle United have had that at St James’ Park, with six home victories in a row.

The overall form in all competitions hadn’t been bad and we are now at the point where the last 12 matches have brought eight wins.

It is the performances and results in the last two Premier League matches though, that I think have tipped the balance, the Man City and Everton games giving the belief that Newcastle United are capable now of hopefully putting a sustained run together in the Premier League especially.

In contrast, Spurs have picked up only one point from their last four Premier League matches and three of those four were played at home. Including the 2-1 home loss to Fulham on Saturday. Whilst Spurs have lost five and only won one of their last seven games in all competitions, home and away, including when losing 2-0 to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup.

Eddie Howe has won all four Newcastle v Spurs matches at St James’ Park, seeing his team score 14 goals in the four games and concede only twice.
