Last Chance to Play 11-11 Memories Retold Before It Leaves the Service

Last Chance to Play 11-11 Memories Retold Before It Leaves the Service

PlayStation Plus has plenty of fun games for free, but buried among them are some titles that aren’t really going for fun at all. One such game is 11-11 Memories Retold, a narrative experience focused on the Western Front of the First World War. Unfortunately, if you’re looking to wring out your emotions, you’ll have to act fast.

The PlayStation Store page for 11-11 Memories Retold has been updated to note that the game will leave the PlayStation Plus game catalog on December 16. Unlike the rotating monthly PS Plus titles, Game Catalog inclusions can’t be played after they’re gone, even if you download them in advance and stay subscribed. If you want to play 11-11 Memories Retold without buying it, you’ll need to take advantage of an Extra or Premium subscription to play the full game in the next couple of weeks.

PlayStation Plus Is Losing Another Hit Game

December Is Starting To Look Brutal

PlayStation Plus is shedding a fair number of winners in December, starting with nine games that were already added to the Last Chance to Play section earlier this month. The lineup includes hits like Grand Theft Auto 3 and Sonic Frontiers, and the departure of the admittedly controversial Battlefield 2042 leaves the service bereft of any Battlefield games.

11-11 Memories Retold may not be the most high-profile departure, but it’s another considerable blow to the catalog. Free access through PlayStation Plus can be one of the biggest incentives to check out more artistic experiences, and in 11-11 Memories Retold‘s case, it could ease the sting of financial investment in a five- or six-hour game.

Memories Retold Is Heartbreaking But Worthwhile

Light On Fun, Heavy On Emotion

While living through the emotions of the warfront can be brutal, even in video game form, 11-11 Memories Retold is worth the pain. A soft, painterly art style expresses the beauty in tragedy, and strong vocal performances (including Elijah Wood of Frodo Baggins fame) help convey the narrative weight.

Screen Rant‘s review of 11-11 Memories Retold awarded the game a 9/10, an undeniably strong testament to how affecting it can be. The light touches of gameplay and decision-making might not satisfy those looking for robust interactivity, but as long as you know what you’re getting into, it’s a trip worth taking.

Just remember, the deadline is December 16. By the time the holidays are truly here, 11-11 Memories Retold will have snuck out the back door of the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, making room for the service’s continual stream of flashy new additions.
