Warning: SPOILERS for Jujutsu Kaisen’s Manga
Jujutsu Kaisen has gained popularity as one of the best new-generation shōnen manga, largely thanks to its intense battles and characters with overwhelming strength that makes the word “invincible” seem insignificant in comparison. However, while there are powerful cursed spirits in Jujutsu Kaisen, the sorcerers are undoubtedly more fascinating due to the complexity of their techniques.
Jujutsu Kaisen is filled with sorcerers that encompass a range of grades, with overpowered cursed techniques, domain expansions, battle IQ, and cursed energy output. Yet, as some sorcerers seem to be completely outside the scale, it’s difficult for viewers to distinguish who has the upper hand in battle, especially at the final stage of Jujutsu Kaisen‘s story.
10
Yorozu
Yorozu was one of the strongest sorcerers of the Heian Era, considered the golden age of sorcery. This was due to her mastery of her cursed technique, construction. Unlike sorceresses such as Mai Zennin, Yorozu used her intellect to overcome the drawback of her technique, consuming vast amounts of cursed energy.
She gained firepower and succeeded in managing her curse energy more efficiently by designing flesh armor to protect herself and enhance her physical strength. Her skills were evident in her fight against Sukuna, where Yozoku was able to engage in close combat, going toe-to-toe against him for a while.
Yet, Yorozu’s biggest strength is her creative mind and knowledge, which she used in her Domain Expansion, Threefold Affliction, which guarantees an instant killing blow. Threefold Affliction creates a perfect sphere that generates infinite pressure, which means a single strike pulverizes her opponent, making it one of the most powerful domain expansions, comparable to those of Gojo Satoru and Mahito.

Kinji Hakari
Hakari is a smart sorcerer whose skills have been acknowledged by some of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen. Satoru Gojo stated Hakari could become a sorcerer on par with him. Yuta Okkutsu revealed Hakari could be stronger than him when he was in the groove, and Urame said his reversal cursed technique surpassed Gojo and Sukuna.
While Hakari is strong in hand-to-hand combat due to his cursed energy, his greatest asset is his domain expansion, Idle Death Gamble, and his good luck that exceeds common sense. Hakari’s domain works like a pachinko machine, and he becomes virtually invincible if he hits the jackpot.
Hakari gains infinite cursed energy, and as he can automatically regenerate using the reversal cursed technique, he is invulnerable to any attack for a limited time. Hakari’s luck of hitting the jackpot multiple times makes him perfect to wear down his opponents, and becoming temporarily immortal gives him the advantage against sure-hit domain expansions like the one from Yorozu.

Maki Zenin
Although Maki Zenin wasn’t a particularly exceptional sorcerer due to her extremely low amount of cursed energy, once she was stripped of it, she awakened her “heavenly restriction,” making her similar to Toji Fushiguro. Maki’s monstrous physical giftedness allowed her to singlehandedly annihilate the Zenin Clan and even defeat Naoya Zenin when he returned as a cursed spirit.
Maki became basically a superhuman, a battle weapon capable of fighting 1-to-1 with Sukuna and forcing him to use Black Flash. She also uses curse tools like the Split Soul Katana, which gives her the advantage that the wounds she inflicts cannot be healed using reverse curse techniques unless the person knows the shape of their soul.
Likewise, Maki’s heavenly restriction makes her practically immune to instant-hit domain expansions because she can’t be targeted for not having curse energy. She could probably withstand the duration of the jackpot’s effect on Hakari’s domain or attack him with the Split Soul Katana, making it difficult for him to heal his wounds with the reverse cursed technique.
7
Hajime Kashimo
Kashimo is an incarnation of a sorcerer who lived 400 years prior to Jujutsu Kaisen‘s story and who possesses terrifying combat power. While Kashimo has top-class physical strength and speed, the most impressive thing about him is that he fights relying solely on manipulating cursed energy. Kashimo’s cursed technique makes his cursed energy acquire electric properties.
As a result, it allows him to reconstruct his body and manifest a lightning that is a guaranteed kill, similar to a Domain Expansion. However, the downside is that, despite its destructive power, Kashimo’s cursed technique is a double-edged sword that consumes his life force after use.
Although Kashimo doesn’t have a domain expansion, he could use Hollow Wicker Basket as a countermeasure against them.
He impressed Sukuna, easily overpowered Panda, and fought on equal footing with Hakari even after he hit the jackpot. Although Hakari may have won their fight, he wouldn’t have stood a chance if Kashimo had used his cursed technique against him.
6
Yuki Tsukumo
Yuki Tsukumo, one of the four Special Grade Sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen, is one of the most powerful characters in the series in terms of physical strength. With her cursed technique, Star Rage, she can increase her virtual mass and that of her shikigami, Garuda, allowing her to unleash devastating attacks.
Yuki managed to blow away Kenjaku, one of the strongest villains in Jujutsu Kaisen, and crush his arms with a massive force. She also possesses long-range attacks, as she can kick Garuda at her opponents, whose greater mass grants it power and speed similar to a cannonball, easily destroying Kenjaku’s shikigami.
Unfortunately, Yuki never activated her domain expansion and proved the full extent of her abilities. Even so, the fact that she has a domain expansion, which could ensure that her attacks hit; the versatility to combine forces with Garuda; and that just one of her blows can cause massive damage gives Yuki an advantage over Kashimo.
5
Yuji Itadori
After only a few months as a sorcerer, Yuji experienced unparalleled growth. In addition to the superhuman strength he was born with after devouring the cursed womb death paintings, Yuji gained blood manipulation and piercing blood, using attacks like piercing blood and convergence and even using reverse cursed techniques, being capable of even reattaching limbs.
While those are impressive skills, Yuji’s greatest strength is that he can hit continuous black flashes thanks to his ability to perceive souls. By the end of Jujutsu Kaisen‘s manga, Yuji even awakens his own domain expansion. Also, Yuji was able to defeat Sukuna, but this was only possible thanks to the combined efforts of many sorcerers.
Although the fact that Yuji doesn’t fight alone might make him seem weaker than other characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, he is a true powerhouse. In Jujutsu Kaisen‘s sequel manga, it was revealed that Yuji is even placed on the same level as Satoru Gojo.
4
Yuta Okkotsu
Yuta Okkotsu is a special-grade sorcerer, considered the strongest after Gojo Satoru. Yuta’s greatest weapons are his overwhelming amount of cursed energy and that he is possessed by Rika, a special-grade cursed spirit. Furthermore, his cursed technique allows him to mimic the techniques of others and store them within Rika.
Unfortunately, Yuta’s copying technique is limited to Rika’s manifestation period. Despite this, it grants him great flexibility in his fighting style, as he can copy his opponents and possesses considerable stamina for prolonged battles thanks to his cursed energy. Yuta also masters a Domain Expansion that allows him to copy techniques indefinitely and use multiple sure-kill attacks.
Nonetheless, despite having defeated Suguru Geto, it was implied that the sorcerers felt it was not guaranteed that Yuta could kill Kenjaku on his own, choosing to tire him out and distract him with Takaba’s assistance and later use a surprise attack with the help of Todo.
3
Kenjaku
A thousand-year-old sorcerer known as the worst in history and who orchestrated all the events in Jujutsu Kaisen, Kenjaku reached the peak of his powers after seizing the body of Suguru Geto. Even as a student, Geto was already a special-grade sorcerer whose fighting strength was on par with Gojo.
Kenjaku gained a great range of attacks by having amassed multiple cursed spirits of quasi-first grade or higher, and his power, excellent insight, and battle IQ were made clear when he defeated both Yuki Tsukumo and Choso and was able to create a small Uzumaki. Kenjaku even had to be caught off guard in order to be defeated.
2
Satoru Gojo
Satoru Gojo is without a doubt the strongest sorcerer of the modern era. He was destined for greatness the moment he was born, having inherited both the Gojo clan’s gift “Limitless” and “Six Eyes.” With Limitless, Gojo can create an infinity space between him and any type of physical object or attack, making them useless against him.
On the other hand, Gojo’s Six Eyes allows him to control cursed energy without wasting any. When he fights at full strength, Gojo is unparalleled. Sukuna was the only one capable of facing him. Although Gojo lost to Sukuna, this was only because the King of Curses was significantly powered up by having both Agito and Mahoraga.
It was even hinted by the author of Jujutsu Kaisen that Gojo let his guard down after defeating Mahoraga, miscalculating Sukuna’s preparation to bypass Limitless as well as him using Megumi’s appearance isnted of switching to his original form to cause an emotional weight in Gojo, which could have contributed to his defeat.
1
Ryomen Sukuna
Although he later became a cursed object and reincarnated in the present through Kenjaku’s machinations, Sukuna was originally the most feared sorcerer of the Heian era. Just one of his twenty fingers equals the cursed energy of a special-grade cursed spirit, and his cursed technique allows him to unleash a barrage of slashes, cutting through everything in his path.
Sukuna defeated Mahoraga and, after obtaining Megumi’s body and the Ten Shadow Technique, fought until he cornered Satoru Gojo. Sukuna also faced the strongest sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen one after another, and he only lost because he underestimated Yuji.
Even though Sukuna’s fight against Gojo wasn’t entirely fair, as he also had the Ten Shadow Technique, he demonstrated his strategic thinking by adapting himself to enhanced Dismantle and attacking Gojo with the world-cutting slash.
Truly deserving of being called the undisputed “King of Curses,” his feats alone are enough to consider Sukuna the strongest character in Jujutsu Kaisen.
