Barcelona heavyweight set to receive medical green light for Alaves clash

FC Barcelona will return to action on Saturday as they host Deportivo Alaves at the Spotify Camp Nou in La Liga, hoping to get back to winning ways.

Following the setback against Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League, it becomes important for the Catalans to bounce back strongly ahead of a challenging run of fixtures to end 2025.

Pedri to return

Leading up to the match, there is some good news on the horizon for Barcelona as they are set to welcome one of their most important players back from injury.

Indeed, according to Javi Miguel of AS, Pedri will train with the rest of the group today and will receive his medical green light to make his comeback against Alaves.

This will come as a huge boost for the Blaugrana, who have not been the same without Pedri on the field in recent weeks.

The Barcelona midfield heavyweight suffered an injury late in the defeat against Real Madrid and has since gone on to miss five games in all competitions – against Elche, Club Brugge, Celta Vigo, Athletic Club, and Chelsea.

While there was some hope that he could make his comeback this week in London, Barcelona decided not to take any risks, given how important he is to the team.

Now, Pedri will train again with the group and will receive the go-ahead from the medical department for Saturday’s game against Alaves.

It is unlikely that Pedri will start at the Spotify Camp Nou this weekend, but some minutes under his belt will allow him to build rhythm ahead of a crucial clash against Atletico Madrid coming up next week.
