Ibrahima Konate‘s season of struggles continued with a hapless display against PSV Eindhoven, but Virgil van Dijk was rated nearly as bad.
The Reds were abject on Wednesday evening, being thumped 4-1 at home to PSV, with Arne Slot, the team and individual players looking completely lost.
Here we compare our ratings with those of the Liverpool Echo, GOAL and the TIA readers.

Sadly, we have to focus on the worst player, given the nature of the scoreline at Anfield.
It was Konate (2.95) who got the lowest rating, with the Frenchman badly at fault for PSV’s third goal.
Ian Doyle of the Echo called that moment “dreadful” from the defender, with This Is Anfield‘s readers giving him just a 1.8 score!

Van Dijk (3.03) wasn’t far behind, however, clumsily giving away a penalty with a handball and looking out of sorts all evening.
TIA’s James Nalton accused the skipper of “inexplicably” giving away the spot-kick, although he did note he was a threat in the attacking third.
It was no surprise to see that Dominik Szoboszlai (6.53) scored highest, with the Hungarian easily Liverpool’s top performer this season.
Where would the Reds be without him?
What the stats say

According to FotMob, Szoboszlai (8.8) was also Liverpool’s best player statistically, and streets ahead of his teammates.
Not only did he score, but he also had the most touches (105) of any player and created the second-most chances (four) behind Mohamed Salah (five).
Van Dijk’s struggles were outlined by him winning only 33 percent of his duels (two out of six) – when he is this bad, you know Liverpool are in trouble!
It was another disappointing night for Salah, despite his aforementioned creativity, and he won just two out of his 10 ground duels including only one of five dribbles being successful.
