Andreas Christensen is one of the few Barcelona players whose contract ends at the close of the season.
While the club’s sporting department has moved to secure the future of most of the squad, the Danish defender has so far been left outside these renewal efforts.
Al Nassr want Christensen
Christensen has always wanted to continue at Barcelona beyond the length of his current contract. However, the 29-year-old defender will begin considering alternatives with no renewal offer coming from the club.
Now, according to 365Scores (h/t SPORT), Christensen has an offer on the table from a Saudi Arabian club interested in taking him on for the next stage of his career.
Al-Nassr want to reunite the Barcelona centre-back with his former teammate, Inigo Martinez, and have begun sounding out the player.
Al Nassr had already asked about Christensen last summer and even offered a transfer fee close to €15 million. At that time, Barcelona were open to a sale due to the player having only one year left on his contract.
Christensen, however, rejected the idea. He has repeatedly stated that he signed a four-year deal with the club and would honour it in full.
The defender’s representatives will prioritise listening to Barcelona once again, although from January, they will begin exploring options if no renewal offer is presented.
Barcelona have not yet opened talks with Christensen, partly due to the physical problems the defender has faced. Even so, he remains highly valued by the coaching staff for his versatility and composure on the ball.
Despite that, as things stand, everything suggests he will not continue at the club, and in January, he will be free to negotiate with any team. And, if talks progress, Christensen could reunite with Inigo at Al Nassr next season.
