Barcelona’s return to the Spotify Camp Nou this Saturday against Athletic Club, after 909 days without matches in the stadium due to renovation work, is eagerly awaited not only by the players and coaching staff, but also by the entire club and its supporters.
Club president Joan Laporta spoke excitedly about the return in multiple interviews recently, and now, sporting director Deco has taken to social media to express his pleasure about the imminent reopening of the iconic stadium.
“The Future is Here: We’re Coming Home, to the New Spotify Camp Nou,” Deco wrote on Instagram.
“It’s a pride to see how our house is transformed to house the next chapters of FC Barcelona’s history. Long live Barça!
“The Legend Returns: Back to the New Spotify Camp Nou! I feel immense pride witnessing the return of FC Barcelona to its transformed home.”
“The Mystic Returns: Back on the New Spotify Camp Nou! It is with great pleasure that we celebrate FC Barcelona’s return to our home, completely renovated.”
“More Than A Club!”
Barcelona moved away from the Spotify Camp Nou in 2023, and have been awaiting a return to their hallowed turf for more than two and a half years.
The comeback was initially planned for November 2024, coinciding with the club’s 125th anniversary, but it was not to be.
The Blaugrana then announced a return for the Gamper Trophy match against Como this past August, only for it to be cancelled.
Now, though, the reopening is a reality. Barcelona will finally return to the historic stadium on Saturday against Athletic Club, with over 45,000 fans in attendance.
