Manchester United are finally showing signs of progress under Ruben Amorim, with the Red Devils breaking the Anfield curse last weekend.
In the process, the team also notched back-to-back Premier League wins under the head coach for the first time.
It certainly looks like the Portuguese has identified his strongest team, and unfortunately, Joshua Zirkzee does not seem to fit in with Amorim’s demands.
The 24-year-old has not started a single game this season, while remaining an unused substitute in the last two Premier League games.
Joshua Zirkzee not in Amorim’s immediate plans
He remains a hugely popular figure in the dressing room, and has not let rumours of an impending exit spoil the mood within the camp.
Amorim appreciates this, and his qualities, and while he does not want the Dutchman to leave this season, the truth is he might need to if he is to make the Netherlands World Cup squad.
There are permanent and loan offers on the horizon for the ex-Bologna forward, and now, another Premier League side has joined the race.
As per SportsBoom, Nottingham Forest are eyeing the United No.11, who is ready to jump ship during the winter transfer window. The likes of Everton have also joined the race.
Given where Forest lie in the Premier League standings, it is quite obvious they will look to add more firepower to save their campaign. But whether the United forward will leave to join a struggling side remains to be seen.
“Manchester United flop Joshua Zirkzee wants out of his Old Trafford nightmare in January, SportsBoom can reveal.
Forest want Joshua Zirkzee
“Our sources have been told Zirkzee is desperate to leave the club and reignite his career, and we understand there are a number of sides willing to offer the striker a short-term escape route from Manchester.
“West Ham boss Nuno is eager to get a loan striker through the door for the Hammers’ relegation fight. Fellow Premier League clubs Everton and Nottingham Forest are among a number of potential suitors.
“It is also understood there is interest further afield for out-of-favour Zirkzee. Roma and Como are monitoring his situation and could offer Zirkzee a chance to return to Serie A, whilst Seville have entered the race.”
With Amad and Bryan Mbeumo set to leave for the Africa Cup of Nations, United might not be able to afford Joshua Zirkzee leaving in the middle of the season. And a permanent exit in January is unlikely unless an irresistible offer is put on the table.
