More episodes of The Lincoln Lawyer are on their way, picking up after the conclusion of its third installment. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo’s Mickey Haller has to defend his innocence after he’s been arrested for murder, with Neve Campbell’s Maggie McPherson returning to assist her ex during this tumultuous time. It’s a lot for The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 to address, with no release date announced.
Quietly one of the biggest hits on streaming, and even topping the year-end rankings, the success of The Lincoln Lawyer is one of the factors that have played a part in the small screen’s steady revitalization of the legal drama. Another factor, of course, is the second life that Suits enjoyed on Netflix. A recently debuted drama might also be on the path to success.
The Rainmaker Has Instantly Debuted In The Top 10
Based on the John Grisham novel, and coming after the Francis Ford Coppola film of the same name, USA Network’s The Rainmaker is a quick hit after debuting on Peacock. The legal drama centers on Rudy Baylor. Fresh out of law school, Rudy faces off against the legendary Leo Drummond. Working with his boss and her paralegal, Rudy discovers two connected conspiracies.
The legal drama is a Top 10 hit, climbing the charts in the same week that the premiere episode was made available on Peacock. According to Reelgood, which tracks audience interest, Rainmaker is in the #10 spot for the week of August 14 through to August 20, across all platforms in the US. The TV list is topped by FX and Hulu’s Alien Earth, followed by Netflix’s Wednesday, and Prime Video’s Butterfly.
The Rainmaker airs Fridays at 10 PM ET on USA Network, with episodes being available to stream on Peacock a week later.
Hailing from Blumhouse Television, with Michael Seitzman (Code Black) serving as showrunner and executive producer alongside Grisham, Jason Blum, and David Gernert, The Rainmaker sits at 45% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 20 reviews. The audience score is markedly better, coming in at 78%.
Our Take On How Rainmaker Compares To The Lincoln Lawyer
The Rainmaker cast includes Milo Callaghan, Madison Iseman, P.J. Byrne, Dan Fogler, Wade Briggs, Robyn Cara, and Mad Men alum John Slattery, not to mention Lana Parrilla, who played a pivotal role in The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 as Lisa Trammell.
As it attempts to recapture the magic that it once had with Suits, USA Network’s take on The Rainmaker is not a perfect match while you wait for season 4. But in broad terms, it is another legal drama where the protagonist is a scrappy underdog who fights for overlooked clients
