Newcastle set sign Moran – Official announcement imminent after Liverpool statement

For all the transfer frustrations we’ve witnessed at first team level this summer, it’s fair to say that Newcastle United have made some excellent acquisitions elsewhere.

The women’s team has enjoyed almost a complete refresh with former WSL players joining the side in hopes of promotion this season, while more project signings have arrived alongside promising talent at Academy level.

We’ve seen more investment in the future, with Antonio Cordero and Park Seung-soo arriving just below the senior side, along with West Brom talent and under-15 prospect Muawiya Ghanem, as we reported in an NUFC Blog exclusive earlier this month.

But we won’t be stopping there, as a former Liverpool talent looks set to swap Merseyside for Tyneside following on from his departure earlier this month..

According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle are set to confirm the signing of Isaac Moore in the ‘coming days’ after he announced his decision to leave Liverpool.

Moran, 16, is an England youth international who captained the Young Lions at under-15 level, also wearing the armband for the Reds’ under-16 side before rejecting their offer of a new contract at the end of the 2024/25 season.

The move is all agreed and documents have been signed, with reports of our interest and his likely arrival first reported in early July, where it was suggested Newcastle had beaten Man City and Chelsea to a deal.

Writing on X, Romano also commented that Moran is ‘seen as potential top CB for the future by Newcastle Academy’, highlighting a position change after spending the majority of his Liverpool days in midfield.

Equally as adept playing in defensive midfield as he is in the heart of defence, signing Moran looks to have been a major coup, particularly after he rejected a contract extension with the Reds earlier this year.

Moran has a strong amount of leadership experience at both club and international level, having captained both the Liverpool U-16s and England during his adolescence.

In a post on Instagram, the 16-year-old made an emotional statement confirming his departure from Liverpool, but stated that he felt that he was making the right choice for his career in leaving.

“I have made the tough decision to leave Liverpool Football Club. I want it to be known that this decision was not taken lightly and I have been honoured to represent the club, but I believe it’s best for my career and future opportunities to go elsewhere.”

“I would like to thank all of my teammates, coaches and staff for all their hard work over these past ten years, in not only shaping me to be the footballer I am, but most importantly the person I am today. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. YNWA.”

We’ve seen with the senior squad that we only want players who are open about playing in the black and white stripes, so it’s a welcome sight to see that’s extended to our youth set up as well.
