CHELSEA midfielder Moises Caicedo has revealed that he wants to play in Ecuador before he retires, but has no plans to leave the Blues at this stage of his career.
After establishing himself in the Premier League with Brighton, many had hoped that Caicedo would make an immediate impact at Chelsea after his massive £115 million transfer move to the Premier League giants.
His first few months did not go how he would have liked, but he has flourished under Enzo Maresca this season and has really made that central midfield position his own as he now looks like the player many had hoped he would become.
Caicedo played for Independiente del Valla between 2019 and 2021 but has now revealed his affection for Liga de Quito, confirming that if given the chance, he would enjoy bringing down the curtain on his career in Ecuador.
He has won 55 caps for his country, scoring for them in their 2022 World Cup defeat to Senegal in Qatar, Caicedo told Radio Ritmo 98.5: “The future, nobody knows. If the opportunity is given and if God allows, I will return to my country, but if the opportunity arises to be in Liga (De Quito), I will do it without any problem.”
IcFootballnews Says…
CHELSEA fans dont need to worry about Caicedo leaving anytime soon, we cant see this move happening until the back end of his playing days.
But over the past 12 months, Caicedo has become one of the best midfielders at the club and is starting to prove why the Blues board paid so much money to get a transfer deal done a few seasons ago.
The future looks bright at Chelsea, and it seems that Caicedo will have a massive part to play.
