Tyler Morton‘s permanent exit from Liverpool has been confirmed, with the midfielder making the move to France to join Ligue 1’s Lyon.
After 15 years at his boyhood club, Morton has officially sealed a permanent exit after Liverpool agreed a deal worth £15 million.
The club will have a 20 percent sell-on clause, which will bank them further funds if the midfielder is to make another move in the future.

- Includes 20 percent sell-on clause
- Morton departs after 14 appearances for boyhood club
The 22-year-old had readily cited the desire to play regular senior football and a new challenge in France now awaits for the academy graduate, who featured just five times last season.
TYLER MORTON’S LIVERPOOL CAREER
Debut: vs. Norwich; Sep 21, 2021
Appearances: 14
Assists: 1
After two different loan spells during his senior career to date, the time has come to make a name for himself outside of England – a path also taken recently by Jarell Quansah.
With competition steep in Liverpool’s midfield, Arne Slot chose not to utilise Morton in the season just gone and he finishes his Reds career with 14 appearances and one assist.
He is a bright prospect with an abundance of talent, but the transfer represents a timely opportunity to take on a more prominent role in one of Europe’s big five leagues.
Morton had previously spent time on loan with Blackburn and Hull in the Championship, making a combined 79 appearances, and had attracted interest from the division but no club could match Liverpool’s valuation.
He becomes the latest academy graduate to leave permanently this summer following on from Quansah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhin Kelleher and Nat Phillips.
With Luis Diaz having also made for the exit, Liverpool have now recouped up to £145 million in sales amid a busy summer of transfer business.
Good luck, Tyler!
