Some positive claims have just arrived on Monday night regarding Newcastle’s pursuit of Benjamin Sesko.
According to The Mail’s Craig Hope, Newcastle are pushing to agree a deal for the Slovenian star TONIGHT after receiving encouragement that the player wants to join.
For days on end, we’ve been left unsure if the 22-year-old would pick a switch to St James’ Park or Old Trafford, with Newcastle and Man Utd both eager to land the big man.
The report states that, as a result of our belief he’s happy to join, Newcastle are now intensifying their efforts to agree a deal with RB Leipzig.
A deal totalling £70m is on the cards, although the Bundesliga side are thought to want a structure of payments and sell-on clause suitable to them.
While this is hugely encouraging, Hope insists that it is ‘not known what the Slovenian’s camp have communicated to Manchester United’, so we’ll have to hope his representatives aren’t flirting with both clubs to encourage a bidding war.
Hope does encourage some caution, as Man Utd previously believed he was keen to join the Red Devils at one stage last week.
However, with no formal offer on the table from Manchester as of Monday night, perhaps we really are the new favourites?
