An acclaimed action movie director’s ultraviolent British crime TV series is going to be leaving Netflix soon, and it’s perfect for action fans. Some of the best action thriller TV shows don’t shy away from violence, such as Sons of Anarchy or Money Heist. However, the violence is usually realistic or not as brutal as something seen on big screens.
However, this isn’t the case for a TV series co-created by Gareth Evans. The director is best known for his highly violent action films, with his memorable The Raid duology considered Evans’ best movies. More recently, he directed Havoc on Netflix, a high-octane film starring Tom Hardy as a homicide detective, his first action movie in over a decade.
In the meantime, he’s been working on an ultraviolent British crime show, Gangs of London, which is set to leave Netflix in the US on Monday, August 18. The show began in 2020, with season 3 having aired in the UK in March 2025. However, despite the series creator’s connection to the streamer, the show is leaving by mid-month.

While the show will be leaving Netflix US’ lineup soon, both seasons available on the streamer are also on AMC+. Episodes can also be purchased individually from Apple TV or Fandango at Home. Gangs of London is based on a video game of the same name, which is a spinoff of The Getaway franchise.
Our Take On Gangs Of London Leaving Netflix
The Violent TV Show Is Unique Among Evans’ Work
Gangs of London is a very violent show, a reflection of Evans’ other work, especially during the high-octane action sequences. This makes the series stand out from other crime shows, as there’s an expectation that its action sequences will be impressive and robust. It also makes it a perfect binge now that it’s going to be leaving Netflix soon.
Since there’s 18 episodes of the show in total on the platform, it means it’s possible to finish the show with just one episode per day – aside from a day when two episodes are required. Even at such a pace, the series is still watchable before it’s taken off Netflix and only made available on AMC+ to US streaming audiences.
