Viktor Gyokeres has revealed in his first interview as an ARSENAL player what made him choose a move to North London after the in-demand striker finally made the move away from Sporting Lisbon this transfer window.
The 6ft 2in ace crashed in 97 goals and 102 appearances for Sporting Lisbon, including a stunning Champions League hat-trick against Manchester City last season.
Arsenal have signed Gyokeres in a deal worth £63.5million, an initial £54.8m up front, with a further £8.7m in additional clauses, and it has been reported that the 27-year-old has penned a five-year deal worth around £300,000-a-week.
The Swedish striker has taken the No.14 shirt at the Emirates, once worn by legend Thierry Henry, and now he has has opened up and revealed what made him choose to make the move to Arsenal this summer – the Gunners’ new striker said: “I just felt that it was the right club for me.
“What I heard from Mikel and Andrea when I was speaking with them, and just what I’ve seen in the past years, how they’ve been playing football.
“When I was playing against Arsenal last season, I could really feel it was a very strong team and very difficult to play against.
“That made me choose Arsenal, and of course all the history the club has and the massive fanbase.
“It’s been amazing to see all the support that they have already given me before I even arrived.
“That’s what it’s all about. It’s going to be very nice to see them in the stadiums as well.”

ARSENAL fans have been calling for a new striker to be signed, have been calling for someone that can lead that front-line, and now the Gunners have one of the best in world football.
52 goals last season, the man is deadly and if he can handle the Premier League, Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea will be worried.
ARSENAL IN HATO TALKS
There has been some stunning reports in the media which have claimed that ARSENAL are preparing a bid for Ajax centre-back Jorrel Hato, who has reportedly been in talks with Chelsea over a move to the Premier League.
Since Chelsea brought Enzo Maresca in as coach of the club, alot of things have changed the dynamics of the Premier League and the Blues are now one of the favourites to challenge for that Premier League title next season

Maresca has brought a belief back to the club that has now won two trophies in the last few months, and has also managed to build a squad that is one of the most enjoyable to watch in the English top-flight.
Chelsea have multiple central defensive options already but the report claims that Axel Disasi could leave amid interest from Villarreal. The Blues are hoping to earn around £30m ($40m) if they sell the centre-back, who spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan at Aston Villa.
Per talkSPORT recently claimed that Chelsea have opened talks over a deal to sign Hato from Ajax as they seek defensive reinforcements this summer.
And Hato is also understood to be keen on a move to Stamford Bridge and Chelsea are now directly negotiating with Ajax over a possible deal for the 19-year-old.
But despite the fact the teenager has been heavily linked with Chelsea, according to De Telegraaf, the Gunners have made contact with the Dutch club over a move.
Arsenal are still keen to sign some more players this transfer window and have been very impressed with Hato over the past 12 months, the reports have claimed.

If both clubs are really keen on signing Hato, he is one that is for the future. But ARSENAL have aready added to that back-line this summer, so going for Hato may not make sense.
If he does come to the Premier League, it will surely be with Chelsea?
